KARACHI: Four ships namely, MSC Amalfi, Maersk Atlanta, Porthos and Chemroad Sakura carrying Containers, Project cargo and Phosphoric Acid were allotted berths at Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal and Engro Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
Meanwhile two more ships, Glen Canyon Bridge and Corona with Containers and Palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
Ten ships were engaged at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Cement, Wheat, Coal, Project Cargo, Mogas and Palm oil respectively during last 24 hours, out of them, three ships, Lisa, Stena Image and Kiran Marmara sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, and another ship ‘BW Danube’ is expected to sail from FOTCO on same day (today) in the afternoon.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 164, 706 tonnes, comprising 115, 328 tonnes imports cargo and 49, 378 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 5, 148 Containers (3, 284 TEUs imports and 1, 864 TEUs export ), was handled at the port.
A total of twelve ships are currently at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim and waiting for berths, out of them four ships Glen Canyon, Al-Salam- II, Summer Ploeg and TSM Pollux carrying Containers, Gas oil and Palm oil are expected take berths at QICT, FOTOC and LCT respectively on Wednesday.
While four more ships, Milaha, Cape Male, Aristomenis and MSC Ishkiya with Natural gas and Containers are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday.
