3-member Chinese delegation meets IGP

LAHORE:Consul-General Long Dingbin, Consul Peng Zhengwu and Consul Attache Liu Zhan met Inspector General of Police (IGP) Amjad Javed Saleemi at Central Police Office, here on Monday.

The delegation discussed security matters of the Chinese experts working on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. The IGP assured the delegation that the Punjab police was giving top priority to security of the Chinese experts. About 6,000 officers and officials of Special Protection Unit had already been deployed for the purpose, he added.

On this occasion, the PPO appointed DIG SPU Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry as focal person for Chinese to maintain constant liaison with the police. He told the Chinese that they would have to share the data of all other Chinese who were working on private business projects with the focal person so that tracking and geo-tagging in this regard could be maintained.

The Chinese consul general offered a high-level training in China to one officer of the Punjab police from the Special Protection Unit (SPU). The IGP accepted the offer and thanked the visiting delegation.

The envoy announced gifting 21 motorcycles (Honda 125) and 7 pickup trucks to the Punjab police. He expressed satisfaction over performance of the Special Protection Unit and the Punjab Police regarding security of Chinese nationals. He assured the IGP Punjab that Chinese nationals would completely obey the Pakistani laws. Souvenirs were exchanged between the IGP and visiting delegation at the end of the meeting.

Additional IGP Operations Punjab Azhar Hameed Khokhar, DIG SPU Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry, AIG Operations Awais Malik also attended the meeting.
