40,000 litre substandard milk discarded in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has discarded 40,000 litres substandard and adulterated milk during a massive crackdown took out in all districts of Punjab in a day.

In Lahore, the PFA team under the supervision its Director General Noorul Amin Mangel intercept vechicls transporting milk in the city and spilt 4,000 litres of contaminated milk.

As well, the PFA teams of other districts have also discarded 3500 liters milk in Multan, 3800 liters in Rawalpindi and 11000 liters milk in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, DG Khan and Bahawalpur, at the PFA pickets.

The PFA teams had set up pickets at Gajju Matta, Thokar Niaz Baig, Bhobtiyaa Chowk, Sagian and other entry points of the city.

PFA DG Noorul Amin Mengal said that PFA was utilizing all resources and taking strict action against milk adulteration mafia to control tainted milk. He said that milk was discarded over proved adulteration of chemical in milk and presence of water during milk sample testing.

He further said the PFA would deal the mafia with an iron hand.

Separately, the PFA teams also raided at several bakers and general stores to check the quality of food products in the city.

The PFA has sealed Malik bakery for using blue chemical drums, absence of medical certificates of staff, presence of insects and other issues.
