Aggression, ignorance hurdles in establishment of peace: CM

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif said that the purpose to celebrate International Day of Peace was to sensitize people about the importance and need of peace in the society.

In his message issued here on Wednesday in connection with International Day of Peace, he said that love and affection was the basic injunction of Islam.

He said, on this day, a rich tribute must be paid to all those who had sacrificed their lives for peace.

However, injustice, ignorance, deprivation, aggression and aggressive designs were the major hurdles in the establishment of peace, he added.

He said, “Pakistan is playing a heralding role in the efforts of establishing global peace and harmony and PML-N government is pursuing the effective policy of eliminating terrorism and fanaticism”.

He said that the menace of terrorism would be totally eliminated with the power of unity from the society.

Shehbaz Sharif said the Punjab government had made the punishments further strict by making necessary amendments in the relevant laws to eliminate the fanaticism.

He said the Punjab government was also credited for the establishment of pioneering and highly trained anti terrorism force and it was playing an important role for the establishment of peace and elimination of terrorism from the province.

As a result of sincere and committed efforts of the government, Pakistan of today was more secure and peaceful than ever before, he added.
