LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Thursday accepted the petitions filed by the three acquitted in Benazir murder case against their house arrest for hearing.
They submitted the pleas after being acquitted in the case by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Rawalpindi on August 31.
The three namely Sher Zaman, Hasnain Gul and Rafaqat Hussain have stated in their plea that they have been kept under house arrest despite being acquitted by the ATC in Benazir murder case.
They argued that their house arrest is un-lawful and challenged their detention in the LHC (Rawalpindi bench).
The court while reviewing the petitions has sought reply from Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner on October 10.
On the other hand, the court will hear the bail applications of two police officials, who were sentenced in Benazir murder case, on October 4. The court has also accepted Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) application to become a party in the case.
