Efforts to be made not to increase economy class fares: Rashid

LAHORE:Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that all possible efforts will be made so that economy class fare of Sir Syed Ahmad Express is not increased.

He said this while addressing a press conference at Pakistan Railways (PR) headquarters on Saturday.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Sir Syed Ahmad Express on June 15 and if economy class fare will increase then it will increase by Rs 50.” The Express would run from Rawalpindi to Karachi, he added.

The minister said now PR mobile application would also be available on iphone, adding that efforts were being made so that railway labourers could get health cards.

The efforts were also being made to implement the decision of judiciary regarding Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) within 15 days,he maintained. He added the KCR could be developed through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) funding.

To a question, Sheikh Rashid said the PR was not being privatized.

To another query, the minister said today people were facing tough time just because of Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari as these people had badly ruined the country’s economy.
