‘High-tech industrial park in Lahore to be a milestone’

LAHORE: Provincial Minister Industries, Trade and Investment Sheikh Alla-u-Din said on Tuesday that China was a close friend having strong relations in trade and investment with Pakistan.

Chairing a meeting here at Industries Department, he said that high-tech

industrial park would be a milestone that would be helpful to strengthen the local industry. former president of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Abdul Basit, Chairman ICCI, Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) Chief Executive Officer, Secretary Industries, Deputy Secretary Industries and other official attended the meeting.

PBIT CEO briefed the minister that Chinese side had proposed to develop a high-tech Industrial Park in Lahore and the proposed Hi-tech Industrial Park would be spread over an area of 10 Sq. kilometers (2471 Acres).

He explained that it would be divided in six following Units

Research and Development Base, Innovation Entrepreneurship Park,

Modern Industrial Park, Modern Commerce and Trade Exhibition and Transaction Park, Modern Logistics Park,Supporting Service Park and Proposed Corporate Structure.

Former LCCI president Abdaul Basit suggested the government to acquire the land and provide land on lease basis to China.

The provincial minister said, “We should protect our local

industry and directed the PBIT CEO to make a brief report on land’s features.” He also directed to make a proposal regarding land

acquired from all over the province in small pieces like 500 acres, rather than only Lahore.
