LAHORE:Institute of Public Health (IPH) Dean Prof Dr Zarfishan Tahir Monday said so far no coronavirus patient had been reported in the country.
However, she added, due to the outbreak of the virus in China, precautionary measures and protective methods must be adopted.
She was talking to the media during a training workshop, organised at the IPH in collaboration with the University of Veterinary Sciences for Master Trainers of the Teaching Hospitals in Usage of Personal Protective Equipment to avoid coronavirus during the treatment/ handling of patients.
She said the Punjab government had issued necessary directions to all departments concerned to remain vigilant, and the IPH and the Health Department had also issued guidelines to hospitals in this regard.
She said that five master trainers including doctors, nurses from each hospital had been trained at the workshop, adding that the master trainers would further impart training to the staff of their respective hospitals.
She said that doctors, nurses of infection control departments of tertiary-care hospitals and administrative doctors attended the workshop.
Dr Zarfishan Tahir said that the IPH would play its role in prevention and control of diseases. In the next session, private physicians would be provided training on how to prevent themselves while treating the virus affected patients, she added.
