LAHORE: Following former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s short appearance before the accountability court on Tuesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan took to twitter and bashed the ousted premier over the official protocol that he received.
In a tweet message, Imran Khan said, “The official protocol given to a disgraced, disqualified PM, also accused of tax evasion, forgery, money laundering etc, is shameful.”
The PTI chief further added that it sends wrong message to society that the powerful can break laws with impunity. Clearly this is mafia rule not democracy, he commented.
It is worth mentioning here that the accountability court issued bailable arrest warrants for Nawaz Sharif’s children Hassan, Hussain and Maryam Nawaz along with his son-in-law Captain (Retd) Safdar over failing to appear in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references.
The warrants were issued after Nawaz Sharif was granted permission to leave to attend his ailing wife. The court also announced to indict ex-premier on October 2 in the cases pertaining to London flats and Azizia Steel Mills against the Sharif family.
