LAHORE:The Punjab Assembly adopted a resolution jointly by the treasury and opposition members to pay tribute to women in connection with the International Women Day on Friday. Earlier, the session, presided over by Member of Panel of Chairpersons Mian Mohammad Shafi, started about two hours late against the scheduled time. In the joint and out of turn resolution, the house paid homage to struggle of women of the world besides Pakistani women for their rights. After approval of the resolution, the members, including Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Rashida Khanum, Shazia Abid, Dr Shahina Kareem, Kanwal Pervaiz, Rahila Naeem, Shaihda Ahmad, Sadiqa Sahibdad, Sabin Gul, Shamim Aftab, Zainab Umar, Ummul Banin Ali, Aisha Iqbal and Abida Raja, expressed their views on the resolution. During the question hours, Law Minister Raja Basharat who was also additional incharge of the local government answered the questions of the members about the local bodies. Later, the session was adjourned till Monday afternoon.
