PBBF condoles death of its president

LAHORE: Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has condoled the death of its president Brig (retd) Rashid Ali Malik, who died due to cardiac arrest on Monday morning.

In a joint statement, PBBF Secretary General Khalid Bashir, Punjab Basketball Association officials and former international basketball players Col (retd) Shuja, Imtiaz Butt, Mohammad Riaz, Farid, Asif Iqbal and Madood Jaffary here expressed their heartfelt sorrow over the demise of Brig Rashid and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

They said that the late Rashid was a nice human-being and a former captain of Pakistan basketball team, who made considerate efforts for the progress of the game of Basketball in Pakistan as a visionary leader of sports.

“He will always be remembered for his outstanding contributions to national sports as an athlete and organiser. The whole sports fraternity, particularly the basketball family, is saddened by Brig Rashid’s untimely death, and pray to Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to his family to bear this irreparable loss,” they added.
