Rs 10bln defamation suit: Imran given last chance for reply

LAHORE: A local court on Monday gave last opportunity to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan for filing reply till October 9 in a Rs 10 billion defamation suit filed by Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif against him.

Civil Judge Azfar Sultan conducted proceedings of the defamation suit.

The court was apprised that Imran Khan had not filed any reply despite the issuance of notices. While giving last chance to Imran Khan for submitting his reply, the Court adjourned the proceedings till October 9.

The application had stated that Imran Khan levelled a baseless allegation of offering Rs 10 billion by Shehbaz Sharif on the issue of Panama Papers. Imran Khan hoodwinked the nation by levelling baseless allegation on Shehbaz Sharif and defamed him for political purposes, it added. The court was requested for issuance of a degree worth Rs 10 billion against Imran Khan for character assassination of Shehbaz Sharif.
