Shahbaz Sharif to leave for London Saturday

LAHORE: Amid calls for his resignation over Model Town incident, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is set to leave for London on Saturday (Sept 23).

According to our correspondent, the Punjab CM is leaving for UK for some private engagements, with no report about his expected return to the country.

Sources said wife, children and daughter-in-law of the CM are already in London.

Family members of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif – his wife, daughter and two sons – are also in London in connection with the treatment of his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. She will undergo third surgery today as part of her throat cancer treatment.

Samaa has also acquired seat reservation details of Shahbaz Sharif. According to which, he will leave the country through PIA flight PK-757 from Lahore.

The news about his departure coincided with Lahore High Court’s orders to release a judicial inquiry report prepared by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi on the killings of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers during 2014 Model Town incident in Lahore.

The report, according to sources, holds Shahbaz Sharif’s Punjab government responsible for the incident.

Following the court orders, PAT has demanded resignation of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, saying that he is responsible for the carnage.

Shahbaz Sharif is also a prime accused in Hudaibiya Paper Mills case.
