Share extra food with poors: Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammed Shehbaz Sharif Sunday said it was imperative to generate awareness in the public regarding the need to increase food resources and prevention of food wastage.

In his message on World Food Day issued here, he said in order to ensure food security, it was necessary that government,research and financial institutions and civil society should have close interaction additionally individuals who had surplus sustenance should impart it to the less-blessed ones.

The chief minister said that the purpose of observing this day was to accelerate the efforts to solve problems arising from food scarcity and the Punjab government was taking all necessary steps to solve the issues of food deficiency. The government had provided various privileges in the agriculture sector in order to ensure food security and it was the prime priority of the government to ensure availability of food to every person by maintaining balance between demand and supply of food.

The Punjab government had given the historical Kisan package and this historical package worth billions of rupees had shed positive impacts on agriculture sector’s advancement, he said.

The CM said that the development and prosperity of farmers was actually the development and prosperity of Pakistan as the progress of farmer would surely minimize possibility of food shortage.

He said Kisan Package was being actualized adequately for increasing per acre production and development of agriculture. The government was also focusing on introducing farmers-friendly policies in order to ensure availability of sufficient food, he added.

“So this is today’s message that we need to ensure implementation of devised policies honestly in order to cope with the issue of non-availability of food,” he said.

Shehbaz Sharif said: “We have to reassure the fact that all the resources of the country will be utilised to meet nutritional need timely”.
