LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has said promotion of tourism related activities helps strengthen the national economy.
In his message issued here on the International Day of Tourism, he said there was tremendous potential of growth and progress in tourism sector in Pakistan and new opportunities of employment and income could be created by promoting tourism.
He said, “The purpose of celebrating International Day of Tourism is to promote tourism, look for new tourist spots, preserve heritage and protect tourists and provide basic facilities in the tourist areas.”
He said that Pakistan is included in the list of countries which are rich in natural beauty. There are vast opportunities of religious tourism, and presence of historical monuments is special attraction for common tourists.
Pakistan provides unique opportunities to tourists from across the globe to enjoy world’s most beautiful natural sceneries and sites of centuries old human civilisation, he added.
The chief minister said that effective measures have been taken by the government to develop tourist spots and promote tourism as it is a key factor in improving the economy.
Every sort of resources would be provided to make this sector an active part of the national economy, the CM added.
