QUETTA:Regional Transport Authority (RTA) claimed to have taken over dozens of vehicle on Saturday on account of violating lockdown enforced for containing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the directions of Commissioner, Quetta Division, Asfand Yar Khan, team of Regional Transport Authority, led by Superintendent, Abdul Hameed, impounded 34 vehicles in different operations in Jable Noor, Musa Colony, Gahi Khan Chowk and Hazar Ganji bus stands of Quetta for defying lockdown enforced on public transport against COVID-19.
Abdul Hameed, Superintendent, regional Transport Authority, said that the government had enforced ban on inter-city and inter-provincial transports to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, but some transporters were utilizing their vehicles for transportation of passengers.
He said that no one would be allowed to play with the lives of people merely for some profits. Urging the transporters for implementing the instructions of government, he said that in future, if any one was found defying instructions of government, not only his vehicle would be confiscated but its driver would also be dealt with in accordance with law in vogue.
