PESHAWAR: Bannu clinched the trophy after securing more points in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Region Youth Games Weightlifting Championship played in a joint collaboration of Peshawar Uplift Programme
and Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs here at Qayyum Sports Complex Gymnasium on Sunday.
President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Billiard and Snooker Association Zulfiqar Ali Butt was the chief guest on this occasion.
Organizing Secretary Syed Saqlain Shah, Jamshed Baloch, members of the organizing committee, representative of the Peshawar Uplift Programme, players and spectators were also present.
Bannu secured 45 points and took first position, followed by Peshawar with 30 points while Hazara got 20 points and recorded third position.
Bannu and Peshawar won three gold medals each, three silver medals each while Hazara got one gold medal, one silver medals. Swat won one gold medal, one silver and one bronze medal and Mardan won one bronze medal.
The Championship was played in eight different weight categories comprising in 50kg weight Nouman of Peshawar won gold medal, in 56kg weight Salahuddin won gold medal, in 77kg Aamir Iqbal won gold medal, Yasin of Peshawar won silver medal, in the 85kg weight Nasir Iqbal of Peshawar won gold medal, in the 94kg weight Mohammad Zubair of Peshawar won gold medal, followed Junaid Butt of Peshawar with silver medal. In 105kg weight Waseem of Hazara won gold medal, while in the 105 plus weight Safyan of Bannu won gold medal, followed by Shujah of silver medal.
At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and medals to the players.
