Pakistan to play Korea in Group-I

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will play Korea in the first round of the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group-I from February 2 to 4, 2018.

The draws for the 2018 Davis Cup and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas were held at the BNP Paribas offices in London, said a press release issued here.

In addition to draws for the 2018 Davis Cup World Group, and Fed Cup World Group and World Group II, individual draws were made for the Davis Cup Americas Zone Groups I and II, Asia/Oceania Zone Groups I and II, and Europe/Africa Zone Group I.

The draw for the 2018 Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group II will be held following the Europe/Africa Zone Group I play-off tie on 20-22 October.

Under new Davis Cup and Fed Cup regulations, the finalist nations in the 2017 Davis Cup and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas were all guaranteed choice of ground for their 2018 first round ties. Belgium was drawn away to Hungary in the first round of the 2018 Davis Cup World Group, but the Belgian tennis federation has until October 4 to confirm whether it wishes to host the tie.

USA was drawn away to Netherlands in the first round of the 2018 Fed Cup World Group, but the USTA also has until October 4 to confirm whether it wishes to host the tie.

Belarus is at home to USA in the 2017 Fed Cup Final in Minsk on November 11-12, while France is at home to Belgium in the 2017 Davis Cup Final in Lille on November 24-26.

The 2017 Davis Cup and Fed Cup finalist nations were seeded No. 1 and No. 2 in the 2018 World Groups, while all the other seeds were in accordance with the latest ITF Davis Cup and Fed Cup Nations Rankings.
