Peshawar: A five-day Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Case Management Training for officers and officials of the Home and Tribal Affairs Department concluded here on Friday.

The training programme was designed to enhance the professional capacity of participants in handling gender-based violence cases in a modern, effective, survivor-centred and rights-based manner.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Special Assistant to KP CM on Home an Tribal Affairs, Tariq Saeed Marwat said that the provincial government is undertaking comprehensive institutional reforms and capacity-building initiatives to transform the Home and Tribal Affairs Department into a modern, efficient, accountable and public-oriented institution.

He said that a strong institution is built on competent professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills required to deliver timely, transparent and high-quality public services.

The Special Assistant emphasized that ensuring timely justice, protection and effective support for women, children and other vulnerable groups affected by gender-based violence remains one of the provincial government’s key priorities.

He noted that training programmes of this nature not only enhance the professional competence of government officials but also improve the overall quality of public service delivery.

During the programme, participants received comprehensive training on GBV case management, survivor confidentiality, inter-agency coordination, legal and psychosocial support, professional ethics and effective case handling, enabling them to respond to such cases in accordance with international best practices and contemporary professional standards.

The participants of the training were given certificates, while commemorative shields were presented to trainers and partner organizations in recognition of their valuable contributions to the programme.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to institutional development, Tariq Saeed Marwat said that similar initiatives aimed at strengthening professional capacity, promoting institutional reforms and improving the quality of public service delivery would continue in the future to ensure that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa receive efficient, safe and high-quality services.

Rawalpindi: The Security Forces killed 10 Khwarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-Al-Khwarij in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KPK).

‘In first encounter, a group of Khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna Al Khwarij attempted to attack Security Forces Check Posts in general area Azam Warsak, South Waziristan District. The attempt was effectively thwarted by own troops. During ensuing fire exchange, eight khwarij were sent to hell through effective and precise engagements by own troops, ‘ said a news release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In another encounter that took place in Dir District, own troops successfully neutralized two more khwarij.

Weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from killed Indian sponsored khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.

‘Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area, as relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision ‘Azm e Istehkam’ (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, ‘ the news release said.

Abbottabad: The district administration on Friday reviewed preparations for the Mega Plantation Event 2026 and a large-scale tree plantation campaign to be launched on August 14, reaffirming its commitment to promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development.

The review meeting was held on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram and chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Gohar Ali. It was attended by the Assistant Commissioner Headquarters, Additional Assistant Commissioners, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Galiyat, and officials from the Youth Affairs Department, Education Department, Rescue 1122, and other relevant departments.

The meeting examined arrangements for the district-wide plantation drive in line with government directives and discussed the strategy for achieving the campaign’s objectives. All concerned forest divisions were directed to initiate plantation activities, while the participating departments were instructed to ensure maximum involvement and implement effective measures to meet the assigned targets.

Speaking on the occasion, the chair stressed the importance of close coordination among all relevant institutions to ensure the success of the campaign. The district administration reiterated that it would continue implementing tree plantation initiatives in accordance with government policy to promote environmental protection, a greener Pakistan, and sustainable development.

Gujrat: The Agriculture (Extension) Department has seized 1, 270 bags of counterfeit DAP fertilizer worth Rs. 20. 32 million during a raid on a rice mill in Mouza Mohla, officials said on Friday.

The raid was carried out at Hasan Rice Mills under the supervision of Director Agriculture (Extension) Gujrat Division Dr. Irfanullah Warraich by Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension) and Assistant Controller Fertilizer Muhammad Athar Latif, according to department sources.

Officials collected samples during the operation and sealed 1, 140 bags, each weighing 50kgs and valued at Rs. 18. 24 million.

Subsequent laboratory tests confirmed the fertilizer was counterfeit, the sources added.

A case has been registered against Muhammad Azmat and other suspects under the Punjab Fertilizer Control Act, 2025.

As part of the investigation, 1244 bags were taken into police custody as case property while Hasan Rice Mills in-charge Ghulam Hussain was arrested.

Officials said further investigation was underway to identify and apprehend others allegedly involved in the counterfeit fertilizer supply chain.

Sialkot: Police claimed to have busted the “Mirchu Pizza Gang”, allegedly involved in a string of robberies and dacoities across the district, arresting six suspects, including the alleged ringleader, during an operation in Badiana on Friday.

According to a police spokesperson, the operation was carried out by Badiana police, who also recovered stolen valuables worth millions of rupees from the suspects’ possession. The recovered items included a motorcycle, cash and illegal firearms, the spokesperson said, adding that the gang was wanted in multiple robbery cases. Police have registered cases against the arrested suspects while further investigation was underway.

Dera ismail khan: The district police have arrested three suspected drug traffickers and seized 16 kilograms of hashish during a checking operation in the limits of Dera Town police station, police said on Friday.

Acting on the directions of District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed, a team led by Dera Town SHO Gulsher Khan, under the supervision of SP City Division Muhammad Nauman and DSP Suburb Circle Muhammad Imran Kundi, stopped a Flying Coach bearing registration number (BRA-095) coming from Zhob here at the Khhutti checkpost on a tip-off.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 16kg hashish and the arrest of three suspects identified as Khan Muhammad, his wife Maryam Bibi, both residents of Tank, and Shumaila Bibi, a resident of Lakki Marwat.

A case was registered against the suspects while the further investigation was underway.

The DPO said police operations against drug peddlers, smugglers and other anti-social elements would be continued without any discrimination.
