Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police on Monday announced a major reshuffle of eight senior officers in a move aimed at strengthening policing and administrative efficiency across the province.

According to a notification issued by the Inspector General of Police, the transfers and appointments have taken immediate effect.

Under the reshuffle, Khan Zaib (PSP BS-18), who was awaiting posting at the Central Police Office (CPO), Peshawar, has been appointed District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur.

Muhammad Ashfaq (PSP BS-18), formerly serving as SSP Investigation, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been posted as DPO Upper South Waziristan.

Syed Mukhtiar Shah (PSP BS-18) has been transferred from the post of DPO Torghar and appointed Director, Police Training School, Shakas, Khyber.

Similarly, Shah Hassan (PSP BS-18), formerly SP Traffic Warden, Kohat, has been appointed DPO Lower South Waziristan.

Muhammad Khalid (PSP BS-18), who was serving as DPO Bajaur, has been posted as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Logistics at the Central Police Office, Peshawar.

Arshad Khan (PSP BS-18) has been transferred from the post of DPO Upper South Waziristan and appointed DPO Torghar, while Muhammad Tahir Shah (PSP BS-18), formerly DPO Lower South Waziristan, has been posted as SP Investigation, Bannu.

In addition, Sajid Mumtaz (DSP BS-17), who had been serving as SP Investigation, Bannu, has been posted as SP Headquarters, Mardan, where he will continue to serve in his existing pay scale.

Hyderabad: The District Health Office Hyderabad organized an awareness session regarding the upcoming Polio Booster Dose Campaign at the District Health Office.

The session was attended by representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), health department officials, the District Health Team, and pediatricians from across the district.

Participants were given a detailed briefing on the Polio Booster Dose Campaign scheduled to be held from August 20 to 30, 2026, as well as on routine immunization, polio surveillance, and strategies for creating public awareness.

The meeting was informed that more than 300 vaccination teams will be deployed across 70 Union Councils of Hyderabad district to administer polio booster doses to approximately 250, 000 children aged 4 months to 10 years.

Participants were also informed that the booster dose will be administered through a modern needle-free jet injector, eliminating the need for conventional syringes.

The session also highlighted the importance of dengue prevention by keeping homes clean, avoiding stagnant water, ensuring routine immunization, and promoting collective efforts towards the eradication of polio.

District Health Officer Hyderabad, Dr. Pir Ghulam Hussain, said that the negative environmental polio samples reported from Hyderabad reflect the continuous and dedicated efforts of the Health Department. However, he emphasized that the complete eradication of polio requires the active cooperation of parents, healthcare professionals, and all segments of society.

He urged pediatricians to play an active role in raising awareness among parents about the importance of the Polio Booster Dose Campaign and to encourage them to ensure that no eligible child is left unvaccinated.

He also appealed to parents to get all children aged 4 months to 10 years vaccinated during the campaign from August 20 to 30 and advised them to contact the Polio Helpline 1166 for any information or assistance.

Sukkur: Commissioner Sukkur, Abid Saleem Qureshi on Monday received a polio booster dose vaccine to build public trust, promote vaccine acceptance and encourage parents to vaccinate their children.

The important polio booster campaign will be conducted from August 8 to 18 in selected areas of Sukkur Division.

On the occasion, Commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi appealed to all parents to play their role in making the campaign a success. He urged parents to ensure that every child from birth to 10 years of age is administered polio drops, and every child from 4 months to 10 years of age is given the polio booster dose.

He said the booster dose will be administered through a modern jet injector, which is a completely safe, needle-free and painless method.

Hyderabad: Commissioner Hyderabad Division, Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, has imposed Section 144 and banned pillion riding on motorcycles in selected districts and areas on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

According to an official notification issued on Monday, the decision was taken on the recommendations of the Inspector General of Police, Sindh, and the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hyderabad Range, to ensure effective security arrangements, maintain law and order, and prevent any untoward incidents during Chehlum processions and religious gatherings.

The ban on pillion riding will remain in force in the entire districts of Hyderabad, Matiari, Dadu and Sujawal, while it will also apply to Tando Allahyar City and Thatta and Jherruck towns.

The notification exempts women, children, senior citizens, uniformed personnel of law enforcement agencies, accredited journalists carrying valid press cards, and officials directly engaged in Chehlum Majalis and processions.

The Commissioner has further authorized police officers not below the rank of Inspector to register cases under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against anyone found violating the order.
