Faisalabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nauman Sadiq has directed all civic and development departments to ensure streetlights fully operational and ordered daily monitoring and prompt repair of faulty lights to provide safe roads, improved traffic movement and better urban environment.

Chairing a meeting, he reviewed street lighting system of the city and measures taken to ensure uninterrupted illumination on major roads and public places.

He also checked progress in detail about making streetlights fully functional on major roads, key intersections, flyovers, underpasses and other important public locations across the city.

He said that an efficient street lighting system was imperative for improving urban infrastructure, enhancing beauty of the city and ensuring safety and convenience of citizens particularly during night-time travel.

He directed all concerned departments to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, commitment and close coordination to ensure immediate repair, maintenance and restoration of non-functional streetlights.

He further ordered that daily reports on the operational status of streetlights installed along all main roads, flyovers, underpasses and principal arteries of the city should be submitted regularly.

He also called for implementation of an effective monitoring mechanism to ensure timely identification and repair of faulty lights.

No negligence in the maintenance of street lighting network would be tolerated, he warned.

Deputy Director Development, officers of District Council, Municipal Corporation, Highway Department and other relevant departments were also present in the meeting.

Rawalpindi: Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir, accompanied by City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, conducted a detailed inspection of the routes and key locations for the Chehlum processions commemorating Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

During the visit, the officials reviewed security measures, traffic management, sanitation, lighting, and other administrative arrangements.

They directed the relevant departments to ensure uninterrupted facilities for mourners while maintaining law and order throughout the observance.

The Deputy Commissioner and the CPO also visited Madrasa Taleem-ul-Quran, where they met the head of the institution and discussed matters related to the peaceful conduct of Chehlum processions and gatherings.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration, police, and all concerned departments were working in close coordination to provide a peaceful and secure environment for mourners.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensure foolproof security and the best possible arrangements for the peaceful conduct of all Chehlum processions and religious gatherings.

In the gathering, Talib Bhanbhro presented ‘Lata’s Memorable Moments’, Saleem Chana’s short story ‘Yadan Ji Sage’ and Prof. Nazeer Malkani’s ‘Khani’.

Talking about Talib Bhanbhro’s Lata’s Commemorative Moments, Taj Joyo, Syed Zawar Naqvi, Gul Sindhi, Mola Bakhsh Mohabbati and Imran Soomro said that Lata Mangeshkar said in the interview that he property could be diminished however melody always exits.

They said that Lata Mangeshkar in her last moments also described love and importance shared by these Sindhis and said that Love has no boundaries. Lata Mangeshkar understood every aspect of music. She did many good works in India.

On Saleem Chana’s story, Syed Zawar Naqvi, Nazeer Malkani, Wahid Kandharo, Mukesh Barthani, Imran Soomro and Wahid Gaho said that there are two characters in the story. People go through evolutionary stages every day. The characters are depicted in the story.

Talking about the story of Nazeer Malkani Taj Joyo, Zawar Naqvi, Gul Sindhi, Salim Chana, Talib Bhanbri and Molabakhsh Mohabbatein said that the story is that which describes the role of society in a humorous way and the climax of the story is wonderful.

In the end, artist Imran Soomro gave his presidential opinion and said that today’s writings were about the problems and attitudes of the society at this time, we should fight for love, love and peaceful living

Dera ismail khan: District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Ziauddin Ahmed visited the remote Yarak Police Station and Chanda Check Post to review security arrangements and assess the operational preparedness of police personnel.

The DPO was accompanied by SP Paharpur Division Iqbal Khan Baloch and DSP Panyala Circle Sardar Alamgir Khan. During the visit, the SP briefed him on the overall security situation in the area.

Ziauddin Ahmed met with police personnel deployed at the station and check post, listened to their concerns, and directed the relevant officers to address their issues on a priority basis.

Addressing the personnel, the DPO stressed the need for maintaining a high level of vigilance in view of the prevailing security situation. He urged officers and jawans to perform their duties with professionalism and remain fully prepared to respond effectively to any untoward incident, ensuring the protection of public life and property.

Multan: Polling for the second phase of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections was underway amid tight security arrangements in Multan on Sunday.

Voting is taking place in two constituencies, LA-34 Jammu-1 and LA-42 Valley-3, where the district administration has made foolproof security arrangements at all polling stations.

Deputy Commissioner(DC), Multan, Dr. Faisal Saleem said a total of 1, 052 registered voters are eligible to cast their votes in the two constituencies.

Dr. Faisal Saleem said three polling stations, comprising five polling booths have been set up for the election.

Two of these stations were located at Government Girls High School while the third is at Government Islamia Boys High School, the DC added.

He said 12 CCTV cameras have been installed at the polling stations to ensure foolproof security while more than 250 police officers and personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order during the polling process.

Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Salman Ghani and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Babar Sarfraz Alpa on Sunday visited various polling stations established for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, reviewing security, polling arrangements and voter facilities while reaffirming the administration’s commitment to ensuring peaceful, transparent and impartial elections.

The officials visited polling stations in Saddar Cantonment, Mandra, Dhudial and Chakwal city, where they inspected security arrangements, the polling process, CCTV monitoring and overall election management. They also interacted with voters to seek feedback on the electoral environment and the facilities being provided.

During the visits, the commissioner and RPO were briefed from the relevant administrative and police officers on election arrangements and directed officials to ensure that all polling stations remained fully equipped with essential facilities for voters.

Commissioner Salman Ghani instructed the authorities to ensure special assistance for senior citizens, women and persons with disabilities, stressing that no voter should face unnecessary delays or inconvenience while exercising their democratic right.

He also directed officials to ensure the availability of clean drinking water, shaded waiting areas, adequate seating, electricity, sanitation and other basic facilities at all polling stations.

“The peaceful, transparent and fair conduct of the AJK elections is the foremost priority of all institutions, ” the commissioner said, adding that all departments should remain fully alert and operational until the completion of polling. He further emphasised that all administrative affairs must be carried out with neutrality, transparency and in accordance with the law.

RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa directed police officers to maintain high-alert security at all polling stations and ensure effective CCTV surveillance throughout the polling process.

He said the police, Elite Force and other law enforcement agencies were performing their duties in close coordination and instructed officers to respond immediately to any suspicious activity.

“The protection of voters’ lives and property is the police’s foremost responsibility, ” the RPO said, directing officers to ensure foolproof security, effective monitoring of entry and exit points, and a prompt response mechanism at every polling station.

He added that all available resources were being utilised to ensure the AJK elections were conducted in a peaceful, transparent and impartial manner.
