Govt determined to provide modern and timely medical facilities to people: Secretary Health


Quetta: Balochistan Health Secretary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman on Saturday said that Balochistan government is determined to provide modern, quality and timely medical facilities to the people.

He said this while chairing an important coordination meeting of the administration and faculty of Bolan Medical Complex Hospital (BMCH) here.

The meeting was attended by Principal Bolan Medical College Dr. Raz Muhammad, Medical Superintendent Dr. Fahim Khan, Heads of Departments and Heads of Units.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of previous decisions, improvement of medical facilities, and teaching matters in the new Trauma Center as per the rules of PMDC and CPSP.

During the meeting, Dr. Raz Muhammad, representing the committee, presented recommendations regarding the medical teaching process of the Trauma Center and provision of quality facilities to patients, while various suggestions were made regarding the effective implementation of the Balochistan Health Institutions Reforms Act 2025.

He directed the faculty and concerned officers to ensure the provision of the best medical services to patients while performing their professional responsibilities more effectively.

PM Shehbaz meets Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind


Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President and former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind on Saturday.

CM pays tribute to security forces for successful North Waziristan operation


Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday paid glowing tribute to the security forces for successfully conducting an operation in the Razmak area of North Waziristan, praising their professionalism and reaffirming the nation’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.



In a statement, the chief minister expressed appreciation over the elimination of five terrorists belonging to Fitna Al-Khawarij during the operation and commended the security forces for their timely and effective action.



She paid rich tribute to Pakistan Army Major Hafiz Ahsan Elahi Shaheed, who embraced martyrdom during the operation, saying his supreme sacrifice in defence of the motherland would always be remembered with honour and respect.



Maryam Nawaz said the bravery and unwavering commitment of the security forces reflected the nation’s determination to defeat terrorism, adding that the fight against the menace would continue until its complete eradication from the country’s soil. ‘The sacrifice of Major Hafiz Ahsan Elahi Shaheed, who laid down his life for the country, will always remain a source of pride for the nation, ‘ she added.

Two units sealed, Rs. 1m fine imposed over adulteration


Lahore: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday seized 1, 300 kilograms of counterfeit red chilli powder worth millions of rupees, sealed two food businesses registered a criminal case and imposed fines totaling Rs. 1 million during a crackdown against food adulteration in Lahore.



The operation, carried out on the directives of Chief Minister(CM), Maryam Nawaz Sharif was led by PFA Director General(DG) Raja Mansoor Ahmad, who supervised raids in Gulshan Ravi and Sundar Industrial Estate.



According to the authority, enforcement teams recovered counterfeit chilli powder prepared with substandard food colors and artificial flavours along with other adulterated food products intended for sale.



A warehouse in Gulshan Ravi was found storing fake chilli powder manufactured using poor-quality colours and flavours.



The premises were sealed, an FIR was registered against those responsible and the counterfeit stock was destroyed after laboratory tests declared it unfit for human consumption.



The PFA also disposed of adulterated food items, including fake chilli powder, substandard food colours, artificial flavours, meat, butter and flour to prevent them from reaching consumers.



Separately, the authority imposed cumulative fines of Rs. 1 million on an international beverage manufacturing plant and a restaurant for unhygienic conditions and violations of food safety regulations.



Speaking after the operation, Ahmad said the crackdown was part of the provincial government’s ongoing campaign against food adulteration and warned that no leniency would be shown to those involved in manufacturing or selling counterfeit and hazardous food products.



He said the authority would continue strict enforcement of food safety regulations and take legal action against adulteration, food fraud and the sale of substandard or expired products to protect public health.

Waqar Mehdi inaugurates 24/7 Satellite Pharmacy at Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital


Karachi: Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi on Saturday held the inauguration ceremony of the 24/7 Satellite Pharmacy and the handing over ceremony of the newly procured 4K Paediatric Laparoscopic Tower, marking another important step towards providing advanced, high-quality, and timely healthcare services to the people of Sindh.



The ceremony was graced by Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi, General Secretary, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh, who formally inaugurated the 24/7 Satellite Pharmacy and handed over the 4K Paediatric Laparoscopic Tower to the Department of Paediatric Surgery, a communique said.



The event was attended by Professor Arif Mateen, Head of the Department of Paediatric Surgery, Mr. Javed Nagori, Mr. Taimur Sial, senior consultants, faculty members, and other distinguished guests.



Addressing the gathering, Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi appreciated the hospital administration’s efforts to modernize healthcare facilities and reiterated the Government of Sindh’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare institutions through the provision of advanced medical technologies and improved patient services.



Speaking on the occasion, Medical Superintendent Dr. Syed Muhammad Khalid Bukhari said that the 4K Paediatric Laparoscopic Tower would significantly enhance minimally invasive paediatric surgical services. He further stated that the newly established 24/7 Satellite Pharmacy has been created to ensure uninterrupted access to emergency and specialized medicines that are not routinely available at the regular pharmacy counters, enabling timely treatment for patients around the clock.



Professor Arif Mateen, Head of the Department of Paediatric Surgery, said that the addition of the 4K Paediatric Laparoscopic Tower represents a major advancement for paediatric surgical care and will enable the department to perform complex minimally invasive procedures with greater precision, improved safety, and better outcomes for children.

Two cattle-lifters arrested, cash, buffalo recovered


Faisalabad: Saddar Samundri police have arrested two members of a cattle-lifter gang and recovered cash and a stolen buffalo from them.



Police spokesman said that Saddar Samundri police conducted a targeted operation and busted out a cattle lifter gang by arresting its two active members including ringleader Zafar and his accomplice Haroon who were wanted to the police in a number of cases of robbery and cattle theft.



During operation, the police also recovered cash of Rs515, 000 and a stolen buffalo valued at approximately Rs700, 000 from their possession while further investigation was under progress, he added.
