Dera ismail khan: Police in Dera Ismail Khan continued a series of commemorative events under the ongoing Police Martyrs Week, paying tribute to fallen police personnel through visits to their graves, meetings with their families, welfare initiatives and distribution of gifts among their children ahead of Police Martyrs Day to be observed on August 5.
The week-long activities are being organised on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan Ziauddin Ahmed, with police officers across the district reaffirming the department’s unwavering commitment to preserving the legacy of its martyrs and extending continued support to their bereaved families.
As part of the observances, officers from the Traffic police, City, Paharpur, Paroa, and Panyala circles visited the graves of police martyrs, laid floral wreaths, offered Fateha and prayed for the elevation of their ranks.
The officers also met the families of the martyrs, particularly their children, distributed gifts and assured them of the police department’s continued welfare and assistance.
In Paroa Division, DSP Paroa Raza Khan, accompanied by SHO Paroa Samar Abbas, visited the graves of police martyrs and later met their children, presenting them with gifts as a gesture of solidarity. SHO Cantt Ghaffar Khan also paid respects at the graves of fallen police personnel and reiterated the department’s resolve to honour their sacrifices.
In City Division, SHO City Sinan Khan Niazi visited the graves of police martyrs, offered prayers and later met their families to inquire about their well-being.
During the visit, he assured them that the police department would continue to stand by them and provide every possible support. He also distributed gifts among the children of the martyrs, describing their sacrifices as a priceless national asset that would always be remembered with honour and respect.
Similarly, in Paharpur Division, DSP Paharpur Parvez Shah led commemorative activities alongside SHO Paharpur Cadet Zafar Abbas, who visited martyrs’ graves, offered Fateha and presented gifts to the children of the fallen personnel. Comparable ceremonies were also held in Kirri Khaisor and Panyala Circle, where SHO Noor Aslam Khan and SHO Bilal Khan paid tribute to police martyrs through grave visits, prayers and meetings with their families.
As part of the week’s activities, DSP Traffic Chan Shah and Traffic In-charge Akhtar Munir visited the graves of police martyrs, offered Fateha and prayed for the elevation of their ranks. They later visited the residence of Shaheed Police Constable Shaukat Maken, met his family, inquired about their well-being and presented gifts to the martyr’s children. Speaking on the occasion, the officers said police martyrs were the pride of the nation whose unparalleled sacrifices would always be remembered with honour, adding that the care and welfare of their families remained the foremost responsibility of the police department. Special prayers were also offered for the departed soul of the martyr, patience for the bereaved family and lasting peace in the country.
Earlier, SHO University Attaullah Khan visited the grave of Shaheed Head Constable Ehsanullah Kat Shahani, laid flowers, offered Fateha and paid tribute to his courage, professionalism and supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. He said police martyrs were national heroes whose bravery and dedication to protecting the lives and property of citizens would always be remembered.
Meanwhile, as part of the Police Martyrs Week observances, AIG Welfare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zohur Ahmed visited Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines Dera Ismail Khan, where a special ceremony was organised in honour of the families of police martyrs.
The ceremony was attended by DSP Headquarters Inamullah Khan Gandapur, DSP Traffic Chan Shah, Focal Person Shaheed Desk Malik Muhammad Imran, senior police officers and the heirs of the martyrs.
The AIG Welfare met the families individually, listened to their concerns and assured them that the welfare, dignity and rehabilitation of martyrs’ families remained a top priority of the police department.
On the occasion, commemorative souvenirs and cash assistance were distributed among the heirs of the fallen officers in recognition of the supreme sacrifices rendered by their loved ones in the line of duty.
Addressing the ceremony, the AIG Welfare said police martyrs were the pride of the nation and the department’s most valuable asset, adding that supporting their families was not only an institutional obligation but also a collective national responsibility.
Police officers participating in the week-long events unanimously reaffirmed that the sacrifices of police martyrs would never be forgotten and that the department would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with their families, ensuring their welfare, dignity and well-being.
