Sargodha panel approves majority of rehabilitation cases


Sargodha: The Divisional Verification Committee on Saturday approved the majority of 10 rehabilitation and settlement cases after detailed scrutiny, officials said.



The meeting chaired by Commissioner Sargodha Division Hafiz Shaukat Ali at the Commissioner Office was attended by senior officials, including Additional Commissioner Coordination, Additional Deputy Commissioner(DC) Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner(AC) Sahiwal and Deputy District Accounts Officer.



Officials said the committee examined cases placed before it along with relevant records.



Most of the cases were approved after verification in accordance with government rules while directions were issued for further action on the remaining matters.



Hafiz Shaukat Ali directed officers to ensure complete transparency and merit-based decisions while reviewing cases.



He emphasized that all departments should maintain effective coordination and dispose of pending matters within the stipulated time-frame. The commissioner said timely completion of public-related cases was essential for improving administrative efficiency and strengthening public trust.

CM pays tribute to security forces for successful North Waziristan operation


Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday paid glowing tribute to the security forces for successfully conducting an operation in the Razmak area of North Waziristan, praising their professionalism and reaffirming the nation’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.



In a statement, the chief minister expressed appreciation over the elimination of five terrorists belonging to Fitna Al-Khawarij during the operation and commended the security forces for their timely and effective action.



She paid rich tribute to Pakistan Army Major Hafiz Ahsan Elahi Shaheed, who embraced martyrdom during the operation, saying his supreme sacrifice in defence of the motherland would always be remembered with honour and respect.



Maryam Nawaz said the bravery and unwavering commitment of the security forces reflected the nation’s determination to defeat terrorism, adding that the fight against the menace would continue until its complete eradication from the country’s soil. ‘The sacrifice of Major Hafiz Ahsan Elahi Shaheed, who laid down his life for the country, will always remain a source of pride for the nation, ‘ she added.

Rain-wind or thundershowers forecast for Sindh


Karachi: Pakistan Meteorological Department on Saturday forecast rain-wind or thundershowers in most districts of the Sindh province during the next 24 hours.



Rain-wind or thundershowers (with Scattered heavyfall) are expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Karachi, Matiari, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur and their surrounding areas. Mainly, rain-wind or thundershowers (with Scattered heavyfall) is expected in the province.

10 traffic inspectors penalised over weak enforcement in Lahore


Lahore: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi on Saturday ordered departmental action against 10 traffic inspectors, including withholding their annual promotions for one year, over unsatisfactory enforcement of traffic laws, particularly helmet compliance, while dismissing a traffic warden from service on charges of misconduct.



According to a City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) spokesperson, the disciplinary action was taken after the CTO inspected various traffic sectors across the city to review enforcement performance and traffic management.



The spokesperson said sector in-charges of Anarkali, Mozang, Garhi Shahu and Niaz Baig were awarded departmental punishments for weak helmet enforcement, while sector in-charges of Sherakot and Manga Mandi were issued warnings and directed to improve their performance.



The CTO said violations of helmet rules, one-way traffic, lane discipline and underage driving would not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding that officers had been directed to ensure uniform enforcement across the city.



He said helmet compliance on Lahore’s model roads had reached 97. 11 per cent, while compliance stood at 98. 83 per cent on Davis Road, 98. 81 per cent at Faisal Chowk, 98. 63 per cent near Doctors Hospital, 97. 53 per cent at Canal View and 97. 23 per cent at Avari Hotel Chowk.



Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said the increased use of helmets had reduced head trauma cases by up to 40 per cent. He noted that motorcyclists were involved in 73 per cent of fatal road accidents and stressed that strict enforcement was intended to protect human lives rather than generate revenue through fines.



He said that CTPL would continue taking strict action against negligence in enforcement while ensuring greater compliance with traffic laws to improve road safety across the provincial capital.

CM Bugti meets families of martyrs, expresses his condolences to them in Ziarat


Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Saturday said that the martyrs are the pride of the nation, the strength of the state and the pride of our forehead, the sacrifices of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the peace, security and stability of the homeland would always be remembered.



He said that the government would never leave the families of the martyrs alone and it is the responsibility of the state to provide them with all possible support.



He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony to distribute assistance checks to the families of the martyrs of Ziarat.



The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister Noor Muhammad Dummar, Inspector General of Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Khan, other senior officials, families of the martyrs and regional elders.



The Chief Minister met the families of the martyrs before the ceremony, expressed his condolences to them and assured them of equal participation in their grief.



The Chief Minister said that Ziarat has always been a land of happiness, however, the recent tragedy has saddened the entire province.



He said that the martyrs are alive, Allah Almighty has clarified the high status of the martyrs in the Holy Quran, this belief teaches us patience, courage and sacrifice.



He also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs, patience for the bereaved families and peace and stability of the country.



Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the terrorists not only took innocent lives but also caused grief to dozens of families, however, their evil intentions would never succeed.



He said that terrorism has no connection with Islam nor with Baloch or Pashtun traditions, targeting innocent citizens, women, children and travelers is completely against humanity and Islamic teachings. The Chief Minister said that the Balochistan Police, Frontier Corps, Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies are sacrificing their lives every day and the entire nation is indebted to their sacrifices.



He urged the people to stand with the state institutions instead of becoming a part of terrorist elements and anti-state propaganda and thwart the nefarious designs of the enemy.



He said that a high-level inquiry committee has already been formed for a transparent investigation into the Ziarat incident, which includes honest and experienced officers, if any officer or official is found to be negligent or culpable, indiscriminate action would be taken against him.



He made it clear that the government would not spare any responsible person and justice would be ensured at all costs.



The Chief Minister said that taking care of the families of the martyrs is the top priority of the government.



He announced that the government would bear all the expenses of education of the children of the martyrs up to 16 years and they would be provided with educational opportunities in the best educational institutions of the country so that they could progress in the field of doctor, engineer, lawyer, pilot or any field of their choice.



He said that the families of the martyrs would be provided with full medical facilities, one person from each martyr’s family would be given a government job, while all legal and administrative facilities to be provided to the relatives of the martyrs so that they would not face any difficulty.



Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the government has approved a compensation of Rs 11 million per family for the relatives of the martyrs.



He said that all funds have been released for the payment and after completing the legal requirements, including the succession certificate, the funds would be transferred to the respective heirs.



The Chief Minister said that his status is not only that of a Chief Minister but also that of a Baloch brother and he would always stand with the families of the martyrs.



He said that his doors, including the Chief Minister’s House, are always open to the relatives of the martyrs and every possible step would be taken to resolve their problems.



He said that the security of Pakistan, national unity and the stability of state institutions are the common responsibility of all of us, enemy forces want to spread chaos and hatred, but the entire nation would unite and thwart these conspiracies.



The Chief Minister of Balochistan prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs, the speedy recovery of the injured, patience for the bereaved families, and special prayers for the security, peace, and development of Pakistan, and reiterated the resolve that the government would continue to take all possible steps to completely eradicate terrorism and provide full support to the families of the martyrs.

ADC reviews arrangements to finalize all preparations for Chehlum


Sukkur: Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Shikarpur, Muhammad Faizan Zafar Cheema chaired a meeting to review and finalize administrative, security, sanitation and traffic arrangements for the observance of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala.



The meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Shikarpur which was attended by Assistant Commissioner Shikarpur Arfa Batool Rai, police officials, representatives of the Information Department, Local Government, SEPCO, Health Department, Public Health Engineering Department and other relevant government departments. Religious scholars representing different schools of thought also participated, said a press release.



Addressing the meeting, the ADC said that the Code of Conduct would be strictly enforced during the Chehlum to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of processions and religious gatherings.



He directed the concerned departments to make comprehensive arrangements for cleanliness and sanitation, particularly along the routes of Chehlum processions and around venues where religious gatherings and Majalis would be held.



Cheema further instructed the relevant authorities to ensure complete security for all processions and Majalis with the deployment of police and Rangers personnel. He emphasized that effective coordination among all concerned departments was essential to maintain law and order situation and prevent any untoward incident during the observances.



He also directed officials to develop an efficient traffic management plan to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and minimize inconvenience to the public.



The concerned departments were instructed to repair drainage crossings and address other civic issues along procession routes, near Imambargahs and at locations where Majalis would be organized.



The meeting also stressed the need for strict implementation of the Loudspeaker Act and other relevant regulations during the Chehlum.



The chair emphasized that all concerned departments should remain fully coordinated and carry out their assigned responsibilities effectively to ensure that the Chehlum processions are held peacefully, securely and in an organized manner.
