Islamabad:Pakistan's taekwondo athletes delivered an outstanding performance in the Poomsae event of the c, concluding the category with a total of 16 gold medals.

Pakistani athletes bagged eight medals on the opening day, as many on the second day of the mega event. The national contingent also secured seven silver and 14 bronze medals on day two, further solidifying Pakistan's dominance in the competition.

With five days of action remaining, the focus now shifts to the highly anticipated Kyorugi (sparring) events, where Pakistan aims to continue its impressive run. The championship, featuring top athletes from across Asia, will conclude on 20th February.

Pakistan's athletes displayed exceptional skill and synchronization, clinching gold in various team and individual events.

Islamabad:Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb left for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Saturday to participate in the two-day inaugural high-level annual "AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies," starting on February 16.

Accompanied by Khurram Shehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister on Economic and Financial Reforms, he is attending the conference at the special invitation of his Saudi counterpart Mohammed Al-Jadaan.

The event is being held in the historic AlUla city of Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Kingdom's Ministry of Finance.

The nine-session conference would be attended by 200 participants and 36 speakers from 48 countries.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb's special participation is in recognition of the policy measures that have led to stability and positive changes in Pakistan's economy, despite the uncertain and unstable regional and global environment in recent times.

He is scheduled to participate in a high-level panel discussion, moderated by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, on the topic of 'The Path to Emerging Markets.' Finance Ministers from Egypt, Brazil and Turkiye would also take part in the discussion.

The conference is set to become an annual feature in Saudi Arabia, aimed at building a strong and sustainable global economy based on the understanding insights of emerging markets and developing economies.

The inaugural conference would bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, policymakers, academic institutions, experts from international organizations, and representatives from the private sector.

The event would focus on the theme of building resilience in a changing world by emerging markets and developing economies, in order to address global economic challenges and risks.

The conference comes at a time when the world is grappling with deep and persistent economic shocks, trade tensions, geopolitics and tight financial conditions.

It would provide a unique platform for world leaders to discuss and analyze domestic, regional, and global economic conditions, as well as exchange ideas on solutions to global challenges.

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday administered the oath to Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar as Acting Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) at a ceremony held here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The event began with the playing of the national anthem followed by recitation from the Holy Quran.

According to an official notification, President of Pakistan appointed Justice Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar as Acting Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court with effect from the day he takes oath of his office till the appointment of regular chief justice.

Islamabad: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Friday upheld the arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with an audio leak case.

Hearing the case, Additional Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar, upheld the arrest warrant for Ali Amin Gandapur, who failed to appear before the court.

Meanwhile, Asad Farooq Khan, a co-accused in the matter, was present in court.

However, the next hearing is scheduled for February 25.

The case against Gandapur was registered at the Golra police station.

The continued absence of Gandapur from court appearances remains a focal point as the case progresses.

Islamabad: The National Assembly session on Friday started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, Naat and National Anthem.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq chairs the session. The House would take up agenda items including Questions, Calling Attention Notices and Legislative Business.

Islamabad: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, held a meeting with Habil Ahmed Khan, CEO of Welt Connect, a leading the CDA headquarters on Thursday.

The meeting, attended by Member Admin, Member Planning, DG Resources, and other senior officers, focused on advancing recreational and tourism projects in Islamabad.

During the discussions, both sides emphasized the need for immediate measures to boost the theme park and hotel industry in the federal capital.

Chairman Randhawa highlighted that the CDA is exploring various options to develop the tourism and recreational sector, including potential joint ventures (JVs) with private entities.

Randhawa reiterated the CDA's commitment to promoting the tourism and hospitality industry in Islamabad, stating that the authority is launching several recreational and development projects to cater to the public's needs. 'The incumbent management is dedicated to enhancing facilities for the people and creating opportunities for growth in the tourism sector,' he said.

The meeting also underscored the importance of mutual cooperation between the CDA and private stakeholders to achieve these goals. Both parties expressed their commitment to working together on future initiatives aimed at transforming Islamabad into a hub for tourism and recreational activities.
