Islamabad: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Legal Affairs Barrister Aqeel Malik Saturday lambasted the opposition party PTI for shirking negotiations and displaying a lackadaisical attitude, emphasizing the government's genuine interest in talks for the country's progress.

In an exclusive conversation with PTV news channel, he expressed disappointment and frustration with the opposition party's evasive tactics and lack of seriousness in negotiations aimed at promoting national stability.

He stated that the government has repeatedly extended an offer for talks without any preconditions, only to be met with chaos.

Aqeel Malik slammed PTI for their stubborn attitude and disregard for Pakistan's interests.

He noted that by ignoring calls for talks, PTI has shown a worrying lack of commitment to finding solutions that benefit the country.

Responding to a query, Aqeel Malik said the PML-N government played a crucial role in rescuing Pakistan from default and improving its economic outlook.

During their tenure, foreign reserves increased, exports grew and GDP showed significant improvement, he highlighted.

Aqeel Malik emphasized that the opposition must play a constructive role in the country's progress, rather than merely criticizing the government.

He stressed that a collaborative approach is essential for addressing Pakistan's challenges and achieving stability.

Islamabad: Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC) and Discover Pakistan have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost bilateral trade, tourism, and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Romania.

The MoU, signed by Dr. Kaiser Rafiq, Chairman of Discover Pakistan TV Channel, and Mr. Sohail Shamim Firpo, Chairman of PRBC, aims to leverage Discover Pakistan's digital platforms to showcase Pakistan's industrial capabilities, history, and economic significance, as well as Romania's industrial strength and key sectors, said a PRBC press release received here.

Atif Farooqi, Advisor and Chief Operating Officer of PRBC, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating that it will highlight the vast trade and investment opportunities between Pakistan and Romania, and promote growth and cooperation in key sectors.

This development is the latest in a series of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Romania. Previously, the Embassy of Romania and PRBC signed a protocol agreement to enhance economic cooperation and bilateral trade.

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday chaired the meeting on reforming the power sector.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Power, EAD, MoS Finance, SAPM on power, secretaries of finance, power, Chairman FBR and senior officers of other relevant departments, the Office of the DPM said in a press release.

The meeting reviewed the proposals presented by ministries of power and finance.

Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Police's Phulgran team on Saturday arrested a key member of a notorious gang involved in multiple motorcycle theft cases.

A public relations officer told reporter that the arrested suspect has been identified as Aamir Hayat. He was wanted in several motorcycle theft incidents and was allegedly part of a network operating in the area.

He said police recovered four stolen motorcycles worth millions of rupees from the suspect's possession.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect's accomplices and facilitators," said DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq.

He said DIG Jawad reiterated that strict action would continue against those depriving citizens of their valuable assets, ensuring the safety and security of the public.

Islamabad: A speeding dumper ran over a motorcycle carrying three young men in Karachi, killing them on the spot on Saturday afternoon.

According to reports, the accident occurred near Ibrahim Hyderi in Korangi when the fast-moving dumper crushed the motorcycle as it was crossing the road, private news channels reported.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Jinnah Hospital. One of the deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Shaukat son of Mohammad Aslam.

According to the family of the deceased, Shaukat was a welder and was working at Korangi Crossing and is a father of a son. The other two young men who were with him were guests from Bahawalpur, the family said.

Upon receiving reports of the accident, a heavy police contingent arrived at the scene and started an investigation.

Islamabad: Japanese Ambassador AKAMATSU Shuichi on Friday called on Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar to discuss issues pertaining to strengthen bilateral relations.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.

During the discussion, both sides emphasized the longstanding friendly relations between the peoples of Pakistan and Japan.

The Federal Minister acknowledged Japan's support in Pakistan's economic and industrial development and expressed Pakistan's desire to further strengthen cooperation with Japan.

Ambassador AKAMATSU reiterated Japan's commitment to supporting Pakistan's development goals and agreed to enhance collaboration in various sectors.

He also highlighted the completion of 70 years of Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) between Japan and Pakistan and reaffirmed Japan's willingness to continue its partnership in Pakistan's progress.

Both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and agreed to further expand bilateral relations for the benefit of both nations.
