Karachi: The citizens of Karachi, like other parts of the country, organized rallies and gatherings on Kashmir Day to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and reiterate their commitment that the Pakistani people will continue to support the right of self-determination of Kashmiris and oppose Indian domination.

The main rally of the Kashmir Day led by Sindh Minister for Education and Mineral Development was brought out from Peoples Chowrangi and it culminated at Mazar e Quaid.

The rally was attended by Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh Najmi Alam, Hurriyat leader Syed Muhammad Naseem Yousuf Bukhari, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, political leaders, representatives of civil society, social activists, students and a large number of people.

A two-minute silence was observed at the beginning of the rally. The participants of the rally carried the Kashmiri flag and solidarity banners with slogans like "Kashmir to become Pakistan" and "We are with Kashmiris".

Syed Sardar Ali Shah, speaking at the occasion, said that geographically Kashmir is a part of Pakistan and despite years of oppression and greedy tactics, India has not been able to get the support of Kashmiris until today because the people there are refusing to accept Indian domination.

India has forgotten that it can never get Kashmir by coercion, he said and expressed the commitment that Pakistan will continue to support the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people and will continue to expose Indian atrocities at every forum.

"Today's day was founded by the Pakistan People's Party to express solidarity with Kashmir and the people of Pakistan renew their support to the oppressed citizens of IIOJK every year,' the minister Shah said and added that Quaid Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto whenever got an opportunity, he never stopped supporting the just cause of Kashmiri people.

The Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Haider Shah said that the people of Pakistan will continue to support Kashmiris diplomatically and morally at all levels.

Hurriyat leader Syed Muhammad Naseem Yusuf Bukhari, who came from Azad Kashmir, said during his speech that "the relationship of the state of Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan is based on the word and the decree of the Quaid-i-Azam.

People of IIOJK liked to die but never recognized India, he said and added that over six hundred thousand Kashmiris had sacrificed their lives for the just cause of right of self-determination. He vowed that India has not been able to get Kashmir on the basis of force or greed and will not be able to.

On this occasion, tributes were paid to the martyrs, while special prayers were offered for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and the freedom fighters of Kashmir.

Karachi: The General Secretary Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh chapter and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh Senator Waqar Mehdi visited the Aga Khan Jamat Khana Clifton on Wednesday and expressed his condolences to the administrators and other officials of the Jamat Khana on the passing away of Prince Karim Aga Khan and termed his death a great loss to the Ismaili community as well as Pakistan.

Senator Waqar Mehdi paid tribute to Prince Karim Khan for his immense services to humanity and prayed that Allah Almighty may elevate his ranks and grant him a high position in the realm of mercy and grant patience to the entire Aga Khani community including his family.

Later, he also offered Fateha for the eternal peace of the late Prince Karim Aga Khan.

Karachi: Nazimabad Gymkhana Blues easily defeated Metropolitan Cricket Club by 8 Wickets to move into the quarter final of Master Oil Inter Club Cricket Tournament at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.

A fine batting display by Qadir Khan and Ghani Subhan who scored fifties and economical bowling performance by medium pacer Najeeb ur Rehman helped the NG Blues to sail smoothly into the next stage of the tournament being organized by Regional Cricket Association Karachi with the collaboration of Master Oil Lubricant.

In the first innings of the match Metropolitan Cricket Club scored 156 all out in 34.2 overs. MCC's Abdur Rehman scored 67 runs with 6 fours and one sixer while Saifullah scored 19. Najeeb ur Rehman of NG Blues clinched 3 wickets for 26 while Zafar Ali and Naeem Gul took 2 wickets each.

Nazimabad Gymkhana Blues achieved the target in the 23rd over (22.2 overs) with the loss of two wickets. A fine batting performance by Qadir Khan, 70 not out with 7 boundaries and 4 sixes, and 64 run innings of Ghani Subhan helped the club to easily reach the quarter final.

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed deep grief over the sad demise of Prince Karim Aga Khan, the 49th Imam of the Ismaili community.

Syed Murad Ali Shah, in his condolence message, said that the people of Sindh and the government equally share the grief of the Ismaili community.

He said that the demise of Prince Karim Aga Khan was a great loss not only for the Ismaili community but also for the entire humanity.

The Sindh Chief Minister said that Prince Karim Aga Khan's welfare activities and services to humanity are unforgettable.

He added that the memories of Prince Karim Aga Khan will always live on.

Karachi: The Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, paying glowing tribute to the unwavering struggle of Kashmiri people, Wednesday said that the right to self-determination is the fundamental right of Kashmiris and the entire Pakistani nation supports their struggle for a just cause.

The governor, while addressing the ceremony held here at the Governor House Karachi to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, urged the international community to take notice of Indian atrocities in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The ceremony was attended by consuls general of different countries, leaders of minority communities and others, said a statement issued here.

Governor Sindh further said that the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had said on the first day of the establishment of Pakistan that Kashmir is our jugular vein and we should make our strategy according to the words of the father of the nation.

'Even today, the entire nation stands united as one voice on the issue of Kashmir,' Tessori said and stressed on the urgent need of highlighting the issue of Kashmir at international level.

He said that India is violating the rights of Kashmiris, inhumane atrocities are being inflicted on the innocent people of IIOJK and they are being imprisoned.
