Governor Tessori takes notice of students’ anxiety over BIEK exam results

Karachi: Sindh Governor Mohammed Kamran Khan Tessori on Friday took notice of students' dissatisfaction over the results of examinations of Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) and sought a report from the Board's Chairman.

He told the officials concerned that the scrutiny of the examination results was inevitable and directed to address the reservations of girls and boys students of Karachi.

The Governor said that the students have also previously raised their reservations.

He further said that injustice would not be tolerated with the students of Karachi.

SBP injects Rs2.43 trillion in the market

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) injected Rs2,429.65 billion in the market through reverse repo purchase and Shariah Compliant Mudarabah based Open Market Operations (OMO) on Friday.

The SBP conducted Open Market Operation, Reverse Repo Purchase (Injection) on January 03, 2025 for 7-day and 28-day tenors and, as per results issued, accepted an amount of Rs2,245.65 billion offered through 23 bids.

The central bank received 10 bids for 7-day tenor cumulatively offering an amount of Rs1,455.8 billion at the rate of return ranging between 13.04 to 13.09 percent while 13 bids were received for the 28-day tenor offering an amount of Rs1,145.65 billion at the rate of return ranging between 13.04 to 13.08 %.

The central bank accepted an amount of Rs1,100 billion offered through 10 quotes for 7-day tenor at 13.04% rate of return. Total amount offered at 13.04% was Rs427 billion, out of which SBP accepted Rs100 billion on pro rata basis. The SBP also accepted all the 13 quotes offered for 28-day tenor amounting to Rs1,145.65 billion at 13.04% rate of return.

Meanwhile, SBP also conducted Shariah Compliant Mudarabah based Open Market Operation for the 7-day and 28-day tenors and injected Rs184 billion into the market while accepting the 5 quotes offered.

The central bank received 4 bids for 7-day tenor quoting an amount of Rs179 billion at the rate of return ranging between 13.08 to 13.10 % and one bid for 28-day tenor amounting to Rs5 billion at 13.08% rate of return.

The SBP accepted all the 5 quotes for 7-day and 28-day tenors with the entire offered amount at 13.08% rate of return.

Delegation of Sakinan-e- Shahar calls on Commissioner

Mahmood Ahmed Khan said that the International Mushaira, organized by Sakinan -e- Shahr-e-Quaid, is Pakistan's largest Mushaira event, with this year marking its 30th edition. The event attracts poets from across Pakistan and abroad.

PPP Sindh to celebrate Zulifikar Bhutto’s birthday at all district headquarters

Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh has decided to celebrate the 97th birthday of the party's founder and former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on January 5 in all district headquarters across the province.

This was announced by PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro in a statement issued here on Thursday.

He said that the 97th birthday of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto will be celebrated with enthusiasm in every district headquarters of Sindh. In this regard, party's district organizations would organize programs at respective districts.

Uzbek Ambassador, TDAP Chief Executive discuss bilateral trade

Karachi: The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan Alisher Tukhtaev and Trade Counsellor Bakhrom Yusupov called on Trade Development Authority Chief Executive Zubair Motiwala and Sheryar Taj here at TDAP Headquarters on Thursday.

Various issues related to enhancement of bilateral trade between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.

A brief presentation was given by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan followed by a video on investment opportunities and trade potential in Uzbekistan.

The Chief Executive TDAP also briefed the Uzbek Envoy on working and functioning of TDAP. He also emphasized the importance of TDAP'S official web portal, PTP.

The two sides also agreed to participate in more than the existing number exhibitions in the respective countries and exchange trade delegations simultaneously.

The Secretary TDAP apprised and invited Uzbek Ambassador to attend upcoming mega events of TDAP like Healthcare and Engineering Show at Lahore and Food Agri Manufacturing Exhibition, Lahore.

SBP injects Rs823 billion in the market


Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), on Thursday, injected Rs823.45 billion in the market through reverse repo purchase and Shariah Compliant Mudarabah based Open Market Operations (OMO).



The SBP conducted Open Market Operation, Reverse Repo Purchase (Injection) on January 2, 2025 for 8-day tenor and, as per results issued, accepted an amount of Rs627.95 billion offered through 11 bids.



The central bank received 11 bids cumulatively offering an amount of Rs627.95 billion at the rate of return ranging between 13.06 to 13.09 percent.



The central bank accepted the entire amount offered at 13.06% rate of return. Meanwhile, SBP also conducted Shariah Compliant Mudarabah based Open Market Operation for 8-day tenor and injected Rs195.5 billion into the market.



The central bank received 4 bids quoting an amount of Rs195.5 billion at the rate of return ranging between 13.10 to 13.12 %.The SBP accepted all the 4 quotes with the entire offered amount at 13.10% rate of return.
