Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that water is a symbol of life and a guarantee for a secure future for coming generations.

In her message on World Water Day, the CM said that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also forbade the wastage of water, stressing that its conservation is a shared responsibility.

The chief minister added that every drop is precious, and there is a need to raise public awareness to prevent water wastage in daily life. She expressed concern over the rapid depletion of water resources due to population growth, climate change, and negligence. Without proper conservation measures, future generations may face severe water shortages, she added.

CM Maryam Nawaz stressed the importance of practical steps to ensure efficient water use and conservation. She suggested that rainwater storage and underground tanks could be utilised for irrigation purposes. Urging immediate action, she said, 'Save water-this is the time to act. Use water responsibly for the survival of future generations.'

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a special Eid initiative to share the joy of the festive occasion with special children across the province.

The CM directed Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) on Special Education Sania Ashiq to personally oversee the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Eid Gift Campaign for Special Children.

As part of the campaign, SACM Sania Ashiq Saturday visited several special education institutions, including Government Degree College for Special Education (Johar Town), Government Shadab Institute of Special Education, and Government Degree College for Special Education (Nishtar Town). She distributed Eid gifts and greeting cards to the students on behalf of CM Maryam Nawaz.

Following the Chief Minister's directive, Sania Ashiq personally visited classrooms, handing out gifts and reading a special Eid Mubarak message from CM Maryam Nawaz. She stated, 'Eid gifts are being distributed to special students in all districts of Punjab.' She further vowed that the initiative aims to reach 40,000 special children before the Eid holidays.

The children expressed their joy upon receiving the gifts, thanking CM Maryam Nawaz in their own heartfelt way.

CM Maryam Nawaz said, 'It is a great joy to see special children happy.' She also announced that new and innovative projects for special children would soon be introduced in Punjab.

On this occasion, SACM Sania Ashiq also planted a sapling in the lawn of the Special Education College.

Lahore: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted 166 intelligence-based operations in different cities of Punjab and arrested 11 terrorists. The CTD spokesperson said on Saturday that operations were carried out in Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Pakpattan, Gujrat, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Faisalabad. He said a dangerous Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist was arrested from Mianwali, along with explosives. The CTD officials recovered explosives, improvised explosive devices (IEDs, two detonators, 19 safety fuses, 26 feet of wire, pamphlets, cash and prime cards from other terrorists. The terrorists were identified as Haider Sultan, Wali Rehman, Zubair, Amin, Akbar, Maqsood Khan, Umair, Zafar Iqbal, Ibrahim Qasmi, Mohibullah, and Saddam Hussain. During 1,475 combing operations this week, 422 suspects were arrested, added the spokesman. The CTD officials say that 61,603 people were questioned in combing operations, as the department was pursuing the goal of a safe Punjab.

Lahore: An anti-corruption court on Friday dismissed the post-arrest bail petition of a constable, accused of fraud, due to non-prosecution.

Judge Muhammad Faisal Ahmad heard the post-arrest bail petition and ruled that the bail plea could not proceed as the accused's counsel had failed to appear for multiple hearings.

During the proceedings, the complainant's counsel, Advocate Rana Almas, argued that Abdul Razzaq, a police constable, had defrauded the complainant, Sarfaraz, of Rs. 6 million by falsely promising a job for his brother in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Lahore: The training of under-training ASPs from the National Police Academy has been successfully completed at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA).

As part of the 51st Common, the ASPs received briefings on AI-based policing, the Virtual Women Police Station, and the Child Centre at Safe City. Officers were also introduced to the Emergency Panic Button and the Free Wi-Fi Service Project available at 130 different locations in Lahore. The trainee officers observed the handling of 15 emergency calls and the swift police response process.

Practical training was provided on the functions and services of various PSCA units, including the Safe City Complaint Portal Service, Media Monitoring, the E-Challan System, and other modern policing initiatives.

PSCA Managing Director Ahsan Younis stated that equipping young officers with technological expertise would enhance the efficiency of the police force. He stated that traditional policing methods are becoming obsolete, while Artificial Intelligence is proving to be a crucial tool for crime prevention and modern law enforcement worldwide.

The trainee officers expressed that their training at PSCA has been instrumental in developing advanced investigative skills and improving crime prevention strategies.

Lahore: The Jinnah Hospital administration has strongly rejected reports regarding shortage of medicines in the hospital's emergency department, calling them baseless and untrue.

According to the Jinnah Hospital spokesman on Friday, such fabricated news without verification falls under lies, slander, and accusations. He reassured that the hospital has a sufficient stock of emergency medicines, which are being provided to patients free of cost.

The spokesperson further stated that negative propaganda against Jinnah Hospital Lahore is being spread by corrupt mafias who have been removed from the hospital. He claimed that this misinformation campaign is part of a well-planned scheme to defame the government.

Addressing specific allegations, he clarified that reports of a medicine shortage in the eye ward and operation theatre are completely false. He emphasized that the eye department conducts surgeries only twice a week, and all required medicines are fully available for these operations.
