Lahore: Commissioner Lahore Zaid Bin Maqsood visited different areas of the provincial capital on Wednesday and reviewed ongoing polio campaign.

He said polio vaccination teams were discharging their duties with full commitment. He said, "Today is third day of polio vaccine and polio vaccination teams are deployed at railway station and bus terminals."

During ongoing polio campaign a target has been set to administer polio vaccine to 2230134 children of up to 5 years of age in Lahore, he added.

Lahore: International parliamentary delegations have started arriving here to attend first Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Asia and Southeast Asia Regional Conference, being held in Punjab Assembly from February 6 to 8.

According to official sources, speakers from Malaysia Legislative Assemblies and 14-member parliamentary delegation arrived here at Lahore airport on Wednesday. The delegation was welcomed by MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt and Salma Saeed Hashmi.

The Malaysian delegation included Speaker of Kelantan Assembly Dr Muhammad Amar Bin Abdullah, Speaker of Pahang Assembly Haji Muhammad Sharkar bin Haji Shamsudin, Speaker of Perak Assembly Muhammad Zahir bin Abdul Khalid, members of the assembly and secretaries.

Lahore: The Punjab University (PU) Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) organised a workshop on the 'National Research Programme for Universities' at Al Raazi Hall.

PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, ORIC Director Prof Dr Aqil Inam, CEMB Director Prof Dr Moaz-ur-Rehman, Deputy Director ORIC Prof Dr Furqan Hashmi, Deputy Director of IP Prof Dr Ghazala Yasmeen and faculty members were present. In his address, Dr Khalid Mahmood emphasised the importance of NRPU projects for PU and the need to secure a larger share of NRPU grants.

In his keynote speech, Dr Moaz ur Rehman delivered an insightful lecture, highlighting key points essential for securing NRPU grants. Dr Aqil welcomed the participants and faculty from various departments of PU. He provided an overview of ORIC's role and its pivotal position in the NRPU application process. He said that the VC Dr Muhammad Ali expressed a strong desire for all faculty members to apply for the current NRPU grant call.

Lahore: Punjab Police on Wednesday saluted valiant Kashmiri people who were rendering innumerable sacrifices in their struggle for freedom .

According to official sources here, Punjab's Inspector General of Police, Dr Usman Anwar expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) who were fighting for their right to self determination for the past many decades.

To mark Kashmir Solidarity Day,the security measures were heightened across the province, especially in the provincial capital. Over 11,000 police personnel were deployed for security and traffic management, with additional forces stationed at rallies and sensitive points, as well as at A-category events.

Dr Usman Anwar directed the authorities to enhance checking at entrance and exit points of different cities and emphasized that Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and traffic officers should personally monitor security of programmes related to Kashmir Solidarity Day and traffic arrangements.

Foolproof security was being ensured for more than 450 programmes being held in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals, Sher Ali Gorchani, in his message on Kashmir Solidarity Day, stated that Pakistan will always stand with the Kashmiri people. The sacrifices of Kashmiris will be written in golden letters in history, and their right to self-determination will continue to be highlighted on every platform.

He emphasized that Kashmir was not just a territorial dispute but a humanitarian crisis that needs an urgent resolution. He urged the international community to take notice of the oppression faced by the Kashmiri people and play its role in securing their rights.

Reaffirming his commitment, the minister stated that the darkness of oppression will end, and soon, the sun of freedom will rise in Kashmir. He reiterated that Kashmir is the lifeline of Pakistan, and the nation will never abandon it.
