Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said on Friday that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was not only working to improve lives of people of Punjab but was also addressing the challenges, posed by her political critics.

She said that those who could not compete on the basis of performance were attempting to do so by hurling insults. It is surprising, she added, that the children of those who run the fake pir-murid (spiritual guide and disciple) business were now taunting Maryam Nawaz.

Azma said that Punjab was leading all provinces in good governance, merit and performance. Maryam is spending Punjab's resources on welfare of its people, and not on federal pursuits, she added.

The minister said few months of Maryam Nawaz's work were already an example for the rest of the provinces.

In her response to Barrister Saif's statement, Azma Bokhari said Maryam Nawaz was not using Punjab's funds to launch an attack on the federal government. "The performance of Maryam Nawaz in a short time stands as a benchmark for other provinces," she added.

She said that development was visible in Punjab, and it was evident that the people who had been in power for years were envious of Maryam Nawaz's achievements. While one party had been in power for 16 years in one province and another for 12 years, Maryam was using the province's resources to provide scholarships, green tractors, and livestock cards to people. When asked about the performance of these two parties, they resort to playing the victim card and launching personal attacks.

Azma also praised the vision and leadership of Nawaz Sharif, stating that under his leadership, Pakistan is progressing. She highlighted that due to the tireless efforts of Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, the lives of the people have been improved.

Lahore: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has provided a house worth 13.5 million rupees to the family of martyred constable Muhammad Adnan of Lahore Dolphin Squad.

According to details, the family of the martyr was provided with a house of their choice in a private housing scheme in Lahore. Constable Muhammad Adnan laid down his life last year while protecting the lives and properties of citizens during an encounter with armed robbers. The martyr's family includes his wife and one daughter.

On the special initiative of Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab government released funds for the martyr's family to purchase the house.

Paying rich tribute to the unparalleled sacrifice of constable, the IGP Punjab said that the brave constable sacrificed his life while performing his duties without regard for his own safety. He further mentioned that last year, the Punjab government approved the purchase of houses for 27 families of police martyrs, while funds amounting to 36 million rupees were released for the construction of houses and allocation of 170 plots for the families of martyrs who were martyred before 2017.

The IG Punjab further said that Punjab Police will never forget the sacrifices of its brave martyrs. Punjab Police is a force that holds the legacy of over 1,650 brave martyrs like constable Muhammad Adnan.

Lahore: On the 17th anniversary of the GPO Chowk incident, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar paid rich tribute to the police martyrs.

He said that Punjab Police salutes brave constables who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He further mentioned that on this very day in 2008, 16 officers and personnel of Punjab Police sacrificed their precious lives. Among the martyrs of the GPO Chowk tragedy were two ASIs and 14 other personnel.

The IG Punjab said that the memory of the martyrs of the GPO Chowk tragedy will always remain fresh in our hearts, and every officer of Lahore Police serves as a frontline force for the protection of the country and nation. He added that the courageous officers and personnel who embraced martyrdom are a valuable asset of Lahore Police.

He also mentioned that jobs have been provided to the families of the martyrs of the GPO Chowk tragedy within the police department and all resources are being utilized for the welfare and well-being of the police martyrs' families.

Lahore: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan met Governor General Khorasan Razavi Ghulam Hussain Zafari and discussed ways to enhance religious tourism and strengthening cooperation in education and trade during a meeting in Mashhad, Iran.

Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan is currently visiting Iran.

Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that Pakistan has a deep bond of brotherly relations and love with Iran. He said that Pakistan is committed to increasing bilateral cooperation with Iran in various sectors, especially in the trade .

The Governor Punjab said that there should be exchanges of business delegations between Pakistan and Iran to further promote the trade sector.

He expressed that the businessmen from both countries should organize trade exhibitions in Mashhad and Lahore to increase mutual trade. The Governor Punjab also issued instructions in this regard to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs present on the occasion. He said that he would review its implementation on his return to Lahore. The Governor welcomed the increase in cooperation between the universities of Pakistan and Mashhad and said that the establishment of the Iqbal Chair and the Department of Urdu in Ferdowsi University Mashhad would further boost cooperation in the educational sector. He added that there is also a need to promote cultural relations between the two countries. In this regard, a mutual memorandum of understanding has already been signed between the provinces of Punjab and Khorasan Razavi. He said, "We look forward to organizing cultural weeks in both provinces under the mutual memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation between the provinces of Punjab and Khoras an Razavi which would further expand the cultural relations between the two countries."

On this occasion, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan thanked the Governor General of Khorasan Razavi for the warm welcome and also invited him to visit Lahore.

Lahore: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has taken another step in serving humanity by officially launching the "Meri Pehchan" service. The "Meri Pehchan" service introduced a new method for identifying missing individuals. The spokesperson for the authority stated that the "Meri Pehchan" service had been linked with the NADRA.

This service will assist in identifying people with mental or physical disabilities, those unable to provide their home addresses, and unidentified bodies. Calls received at 15 regarding missing persons or unidentified individuals will be checked by the "Meri Pehchan Team" using the database. By obtaining data from NADRA, the service will help locate missing individuals and reunite them with their families.

The citizens can report any emergencies or missing individuals by calling 15.
