Lahore: A meeting regarding Lahore Development Authority (LDA) City was held under the chairmanship of DG LDA Tahir Farooq, with the participation of LDA City's development partners here on Wednesday.

The meeting provided a detailed briefing on the pre-acquisition plan for the remaining land in LDA City.

The DG said special attention was being given to development activities at LDA City. He assured that the issues of development partners were being addressed on a priority basis. Farooq also mentioned that soon, there will be good news for the allottees of LDA City Iqbal Sector, with the commencement of development work in this sector.

Furthermore, DG LDA stated that commercial activities in LDA City are set to begin soon. The construction of Chenab Road is in its final stages, and more blocks in LDA City will be allotted shortly.

The DG highlighted the progress in house construction in LDA City's Jinnah Sector, stating that work has accelerated. During the meeting, development partners presented their concerns and suggestions, while Hafeezullah, Director of LDA City, provided a briefing on the working of the development partners.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Paragon City, Pak Estate, Alpha Estate, Mumaar Housing, and key officials including Chief Metropolitan Planning Faisal Qureshi, Director DG Headquarters, and other relevant officers.

Lahore: Administrative officers are actively monitoring cleanliness efforts across the city, under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore Syed Musa Raza.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) City Rai Babar Ali, along with officials from LWMC and Revenue Department, conducted an inspection of the Fish Market. The AC noted poor cleanliness standards and directed LWMC to ensure daily cleaning operations. A person was arrested for illegally setting up a parking stand at the Fish Market.

AC Allama Iqbal Zone inspected the cleanliness situation along Canal Road, directing both LWMC and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to implement proper cleanliness measures. AC Iqbal also reviewed the sewage system in UC 111, instructing the XEN WASA to remove standing water from the streets immediately.

AC Shalimar Anum Fatima inspected cleanliness efforts in UC 124 and 161, Garhi Shahu Market. She ordered Town Manager Gulberg to promptly remove waste from the streets and instructed Zonal Officer Gulberg to dismantle banners and streamers along with the team.

AC Model Town Sahebzada Yusuf visited a government plot located in Muslim Town. He directed Zonal Officer-1 to assess the installation of interlocking tiles to cover the plot area.

AC Raiwind Zainab Tahir reviewed cleanliness in the EME Society to Manga Mandi area. She announced that a cleanliness operation would commence in the Canal Area from Friday. PHA will focus on cleaning green belts, while the Forest Department will handle tree trimming, and LWMC will manage solid waste disposal.

AC Ravi Zone Tariq Shabbir reviewed the cleanliness mechanism in UC 44, Shadbagh, and instructed ZO to immediately clear litter points.

DC Syed Musa Raza emphasized that administrative officers are actively working in the field to improve cleanliness across the city. He also stated that efforts are underway to implement the Clean Mission, as per the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora took notice of the recent firing incident involving the Christian community in the jurisdiction of the Saddar police station in Gujranwala. He sought a report from the City Police Officer (CPO) regarding the incident.

According to details, a man named Danish was traveling on a motorcycle with Shabana Masih and Misbah Masih when an unknown assailant opened fire on them. As a result, Shabana died on-the-spot, while Misbah was critically injured and admitted to the DHQ Hospital in Gujranwala.

The minister instructed the DHQ administration to provide the best medical treatment to the injured woman and directed the police concerned to arrest the culprit immediately.

Lahore: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) recorded a remarkable increase in utilisation of government services through its innovative 'Maryam Ki Dastak' initiative, as over 74,000 online requests for services were received, with the app now offering a newly added Self-Service option.

This emerged during a meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) here on Wednesday.

During the meeting, it was revealed that out of the 74,000 online applications received, 28,000 have been successfully processed, and an additional 25,000 are expected to be resolved within days. Furthermore, over 87,000 young individuals have registered themselves as Dastak Facilitator to assist citizens in availing services.

The newly added Self-Service option is a significant enhancement, allowing citizens to directly visit the relevant department to submit their applications or choose a Dastak representative for assistance. Chairman Faisal Yousaf emphasized that this feature not only simplifies the process for citizens but also provides a unique opportunity for youth to earn additional income by registering as representatives.

It is pertinent to mention here that the 'Maryam ki Dastak' initiative has successfully rolled out over 70 government services in 40 districts of Punjab. Services such as Domicile Issuance, Birth Certificates, and FIR copies are now accessible without requiring visits to government offices. Citizens can avail these services through the Dastak Doorstep Delivery App or by calling the helpline at 1202.

Chairman Faisal Yousaf further highlighted the program's success in making public services more accessible and citizen-friendly. He stated, 'The Maryam ki Dastak program is transforming lives by delivering essential services at citizens' doorsteps, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and enhancing convenience.

Lahore: The University of Home Economics (UHE) achieved a significant milestone in its academic journey with the launch of its first research periodical, Journal of Gender and Social Inquiry.

This initiative aims to promote quality research and foster a culture of innovation within the university, particularly in the field of social sciences. The inaugural ceremony was led by University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi, who highlighted the importance of research in development of academic institutions. She stressed the role of newly launched journal in strengthening the university’s identity as a research-oriented institution.

The Journal of Gender and Social Inquiry has been published under the Department of Sociology and Gender Studies and the Women Development Centre. Dr. Faleeha Zahra Kazmi said the journal’s first volume includes high-quality research articles contributed by professors from American universities, reflecting the global outreach and collaborative efforts of the UHE in academic research. Dr. Kazmi also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the journal’s editor, Dr. Iram Rubab, and managing editor, Dr. Tayyaba Sohail, whose hard work resulted in the successful publication of the journal’s first volume. She reiterated the university’s commitment to prioritizing research as a core pillar of its mission and urged faculty members to actively contribute to the field of academia by publishing their work in renowned journals.

The ceremony was attended by heads of various departments, faculty members, and researchers, reflecting the university’s collective enthusiasm for advancing research. To celebrate the successful launch of the journal, a cake-cutting ceremony was also held. Dr. Kazmi stressed that research publications not only enhance the credibility of the university but also provide a platform for scholars to present innovative ideas and solutions to societal challenges. She encouraged faculty members to utilise the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the academic world.
