Lahore: Punjab Police remained on high alert and performed comprehensive security duties during Christian worship and prayer services held in churches across the province, including Lahore, on Sunday.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem had directed all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs) and senior police officers to further strengthen security arrangements at churches. He instructed supervisory officers to personally inspect security measures at churches and other important and sensitive locations.

The IGP ordered the deployment of additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches, while directing the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Elite Force teams to maintain effective patrolling around places of worship.

Abdul Kareem also directed all deployed officers and personnel to remain highly vigilant and maintain strict surveillance on suspicious elements. He instructed police to continue search and sweep operations around churches, Christian localities and other sensitive areas to ensure a peaceful environment.

The IGP urged religious scholars, members of the Christian community and Peace Committees to continue promoting interfaith harmony and religious tolerance across the province.

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday strongly condemned the brutal killing of five innocent labourers by terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan in the Mashkel area of Washuk district, Balochistan.

Expressing heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families, the prime minister said targeting innocent and unarmed labourers was an extremely barbaric and cowardly act that deserved the strongest possible condemnation.

“The elements involved in such heinous crimes against humanity deserve no leniency,” he said.

Shehbaz Sharif said the terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan were targeting innocent civilians to pursue their nefarious objectives, but such cowardly attacks could never shake the nation’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.

The government and the security forces remain fully committed to eradicating terrorism from the country and ensuring the protection of every citizen’s life and property,” he added.

Lahore: After an alleged torture of an 11-year-old domestic worker on charges of theft in the Ichhra area, the police took immediate action and arrested the main accused.

A video of the incident went viral, in which a man could be seen torturing a minor girl with a plastic pipe.

According to the police, 11-year-old Urooj Fatima worked at a house in the Shah Jamal area, where she was allegedly tortured on charges of theft. On receiving information about the incident, the Ichhra police took action and arrested the accused Qurban from Shah Jamal.

Police said a case had been registered against the accused and handed over to the Investigation Wing for further investigation.

Taking notice of the incident, DIG Operations said that exploitation and violence against children is intolerable and those involved in such crimes did not deserve any concession.

Lahore: The Lahore Traffic Police will launch a special citywide crackdown on Sunday against underage and unlicensed drivers, as well as triple riding, on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi.

The CTO said vehicles driven by underage or unlicensed motorists will be stopped, fined and impounded. Unlicensed drivers of vehicles will face a Rs5,000 fine, while unlicensed motorcyclists will be fined Rs2,000. He added that learner permit holders are not allowed to drive independently.

Meanwhile, the driving licenses of 68 motorists involved in traffic accidents have been suspended. Police said licenses will be suspended immediately in fatal and serious injury crashes, and anyone found driving with a suspended license will face legal action.

Lahore: The School Education Department (SED) has decided to start a Turkish language programme for officers and educationists and has issued instructions for its immediate implementation.

The DPI Elementary Education has issued orders to the relevant authorities and subordinate offices regarding the Turkish language program and has directed them to ensure strict compliance with government instructions.

The department has also ordered immediate implementation of the orders of SandGAD and timely delivery of all instructions related to the program to the subordinate offices. Furthermore, all field formations have been directed to ensure full compliance with the Turkish Language Program so that the program can be implemented effectively.

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday held a telephonic conversation with Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Advocate Amjad Hussain and congratulated him on assuming his office.

The premier extended his best wishes to the Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister.

Shehbaz Sharif stated, “We will work together with the Gilgit-Baltistan government for the development and prosperity of Gilgit-Baltistan and the welfare of its people.”
