Christian community hails approval of ‘Christian Marriage Amendment Bill 2024’

ISLAMABAD: The Christian community hailed the approval of the Christian Marriage (Amendment) Bill 2024 by the National Assembly and said that forced conversion and marriage would be discouraged after the passing of the bill.

Christian social leader and general secretary of Muslim League-N Portugal chapter Sarfaz Francis (Wiki) in a statement said that the amendment bill of the Christian Marriage Act 1872 had been approved by the Senate of Pakistan with the tireless efforts of Senator Kamran Michael.

The Christian community was grateful to former federal minister and senator Kamran Michael and congratulated him.

Sarfaraz Francis said that the community was thankful to the members of the National Assembly and the government for approving the bill with an overwhelming majority of the National Assembly.

According to a newly amended bill, the age of male and female has been set at 18 years for marriage, he added.
