MULTAN:An enclave of Scared Fig, commonly known as ‘Peepal’ tree, was launched here at the Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) on Monday.
Commissioner Javed Akhter Mehmmod opened the enclave by planting a scared fig along with VC Dr Mansoor Akbar Kundi.
Speaking on the occasion, the commissioner informed that exactly 130 ‘Peepal’ trees had been planted at the enclave.
The Prime Minister’s Green Pakistan vision, he said, would guarantee survival of generations to come. “It is our responsibility to provide a clean and green environment to our kids,” he said, adding the BZU was his alma mater and he was indebted to it.
BZU VC Dr Mansoor Kundi said the students and faculty members could play a vital role in the plantation drive. The ongoing campaign in the city reflected the commissioner’s environment friendly policies, he added.
