FAISALABAD: As many as 433 brick kilns were converted to zigzag technology in the district.
Deputy Director Environment Muhammad Ahsan Cheema said here Monday that Punjab government had provided loan of Rs 1 million to every brick kiln owner through Bank of Punjab for converting their kilns to new environment friendly technology.
He said that about 400 brick kilns were converted to new techniques in the district during the last 6 months.
He hoped that the air pollution level would decrease up to 60 percent, adding all the kilns would remain functional in winter during smog season which were earlier closed for four months.
