PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Technology, Atif Khan Thursday said launching of 5G service in Peshawar is proof of government’s commitment to develop IT sector according to contemporary demands.
He said this during inking Memorandum of Understanding ceremony with Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL). The ceremony among others was attended by Secretary Information Technology, Dr. Ambar Ali, Managing Director KP IT Board, Sahibzada Ali Mehmood and officials of PTCL.
The minister said that the KP is the first province that has achieved a milestone by launching 5G service on experimental basis for consumers in Peshawar. He said that government was focusing development of IT sector and its annual budget would be increased to Rs. 14 billion in forthcoming Annual Development Program.
He said that government was starting mega projects in IT sector that would provide new employment opportunities. He said that steps were being taken to start Wifi service in colleges and universities and fiber connectivity of far flung areas.
On the occasion, minister was also briefed about launching of 5G service in provincial metropolis on trial basis.
