KARACHI:Association of Builders and Developers Pakistan (ABAD) Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani and office bearers on Wednesday called for setting up new agency to give final approval/NOC for housing and construction projects so that the industry and the customers may not suffer in future.
Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, the ABAD leaders regretted that many builders were facing issues despite fulfilling all formalities and getting clearance from the concerned government agencies.
“Because of various issues that we are facing, we have right to demand for another agency/institution to get final and unquestionable approval,” Chairman ABAD asserted.
He also urged for one-window facility for processing the housing and construction projects to final approval.
He assured that ABAD would never support and protect any illegal construction. However, the housing projects once approved by the government agencies concerned should not disturb. This badly harmed
the housing and construction industry providing millions jobs directly or indirectly besides generating big revenue for the national exchequer and significantly contributing in the country’s development.
Mohsin Sheikhani informed the media that the association’s representatives had very productive meetings with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Tuesday and with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on
Wednesday, who assured of resolution of builders’ genuine issues to support this vital industry.
“ Chief Minister gave assurance that the draft of an ordinance on housing industry shall be sent to Governor tomorrow for his assent,” he claimed adding that this new legislation would help resolve the genuine problems of
the industry.
