KARACHI:The City Administration has decided to activate the Divisional Heritage Preservation Committee headed by Commissioner Karachi so as to coordinated effective steps could be taken for the preservation of the historic buildings in the city.
It was decided in a meeting of the officials of district administration South, said a news release on Friday.
Commissioner Iqbal Memon directed the officials to carry out coordinated efforts to make the city better and resolve the day to day issues pertaining to civic issues with the support of civic agencies.
He said the officials of all seven district administrations should work for the resolution of public grievances in close cooperation and coordination with the civic agencies including water and sewerage board, KMC, DMCs and cantonment board etc.
Deputy Commissioner South Irshad Sodhar briefed the Commissioner Karachi about the efforts being made by the district administration for the development and beatification of the district as well as their efforts for the resolution of problems of being faced by citizens.
He also briefed about the Karachi Neighborhood Project being implemented in the South district initiated by Sindh government with the support of World Bank.
Commissioner later visited the different areas of the district South. He also visited NJV school and Jehangir park.
Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon said the district south was an important district as it had historic background, having a number of historical places and buildings, where a diverse community was residing. He said the district had socio economic importance also as large number of head offices of financial and non-government organizations were located here.
Commissioner said Sindh government was making all out efforts to make city a better place to live.
