ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is expanding its educational network in remote and low literacy areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in the merged tribal districts, to provide equal education opportunities to its people and equip them with modern education.
This was stated by the Vice Chancellor, AIOU, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum during a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Dir Lower, Capt. (Retd.) Aun Haider Gondal.
Dr. Zia stated that a new building of the university campus would be constructed at Timergara in which a smart classroom would also be set up with the latest computers and internet facilities.
Talking to the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum said that the children in the area who did not have internet/computer facilities would be able to use the online facilities free of cost in the smart classroom set up in the regional campus of AIOU.
VC, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum is currently on a visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during which he will hold talks with government officials, socio-political elders, and philanthropists on acquiring land for the construction of the university’s regional campus buildings.
He paid special attention to the facilities of the students and under digitalization, online facilities have been provided to the students at their doorsteps. Relocating the university’s regional offices from rented accommodation to its own buildings is also a top priority for the VC.
