RAWALPINDI: The Anti-polio drive started in the entire district on September 20 has achieved 95 percent target so far while the remaining would be met till September 24.
In Charge of anti-polio drive, Muhammad Islam told reporter that more than 95 percent target has been achieved, admitting that children had missed immunization for certain reasons like being out of the city or not present at home etc.
“Still there are thousands of children, who would be administered polio drops during the catch-up campaign, ” he added.
He said around 685, 000 children below five years of age, had been administered anti-polio drops while the set target to cover 719, 000 children would be accomplished in the next two days.
Islam told that 2964 polio teams, 240 health centres and 307 fixed centres, were participating in the drive to complete the task of immunization. He said that polio drops were also being administered at 129 transit points of the city for children coming outside the district.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner City Waqas Sikandar on Wednesday visited union council 27, Sadiq Abad and covered eight polio refusal cases with the help of local police.
He asked the people to vaccinate their children as polio vaccine is not only safe but will ensure your child health and safety.
