MULTAN:The second phase of training programs for master trainees to eradicate pink bollworm will commence from December 21 (Tuesday) at Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI).
According to Director CCRI Zahid Mahmood, the officers and other staff of Punjab Pest Warning and Quality Control Department of districts Vehari, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur and DG Khan will join the special training session.
Earlier, during the first phase of the training, agricultural officers and field assistants of Punjab Agriculture (Extension) Department from all the above mentioned districts had participated.
Dr. Zahid Mahmood said that off-season management practice of cotton was very important to protect the cotton from pink bollworm. CCRI Multan is striving hard in collaboration with other agriculture departments of the province to ensure steps against the menace of pink bollworm.
“The purpose of these training programs is to promote coordination among the federal and provincial agencies, working on cotton and provide their services to the cotton growers through a common platform to avoid pink bollworm and its dangers”, said Zahid.
He added, the guidance and training of cotton growers can properly be transferred to the lower level. Similarly, the farmers would have complete information about threat of pink bollworm.
Agricultural experts from CCRI will give special lectures on off-season management of cotton to the master trainees participating in the training programs.
Apart from this, the participants of this training course will also be provided an opportunity for inspection of different laboratories, working in the institute.
