KHANEWAL: SP Railways police Multan has ordered deploying one policeman in engines of each train to check stone pelting incidents on Bahawalpur-Khanewal track and arrest those involved.
In a letter issued to SHOs of Multan, Khanewal and Bahawalpur railway police stations, SP Railways said that settlements around track from Bahawalpur to Khanewal has witnessed a surge with commercial activity. Youngsters who play on fields near the track used to resort to stone pelting on trains that can cause injuries to not only the train drivers but also the passengers.
To check such incidents one of the policemen deployed in trains must accompany train driver in the engine to identify trouble makers so that they can be arrested.
Meanwhile, Khanewal Railways police arrested one of the two accused while they were trying to steal nut bolts fixed on the line near Kalorkot railway station.
Khanewal railways police was able to arrest one accused Taimoor, however, his accomplice Kaleem managed to escape. A case has been registered against the two accused.
