CTD conducts IBOs across Punjab

LAHORE:Keeping in view the recent spate of terrorism across the country particularly target killing of police officials, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab conducted extensive intelligence based operation (IBOs) across the Punjab to avert any untoward incident. The CTD Punjab conducted 22 IBOs in different districts of Punjab in which three terrorists were killed, 22 suspect were interrogated and four were arrested during the IBOs, said a spokesman for the CTD Punjab. Three terrorists namely Umar Daraz s/o Manzoor Ahmad along with two other unknown were killed in Pakpattan. About two hand grenades, a pistol 9 mm with seven bullets, a pistol 30 bore with four bullets, a kalashnikov with five bullets and Rs 5720 were recovered from the terrorists. However, a person namely Abdul Raheem Makki, belongs to the defunct organization TTP was arrested from Chiniot while Rs 1500 in cash and explosive material including explosive 1100gm, safety fuse 07ft and a detonator was also recovered from his custody which he wanted to use for terrorist activity. Another person namely Muhammad Ghaffar, belongs to defunct organization TTP was arrested from Sahiwal while Rs 2950 explosive material including a hand grenade, prima cord 26 inches, an electric detonator, a battery power plus, and an electric switch with LED was recovered from him. Another accused Rahem Akbar alias Khog, belongs to the defunct organization TTP was arrested from Rawalpindi. He was advertising his defunct organization through flags/pamphlets. As many as 17 pamphlets against Ahle Tashi sect, 11 pamphlets with flag of TTP, copy of CNIC and Rs 12370 were recovered from him. Another accused Hassan Raza, belonged to defunct organization TJP was arrested from Multan. He was collecting funds for financial support of his organization and three banned books, printed flags of TJP, three receipt books, Rs. 4360, a blue ball point, and a cell from were recovered from him. The CTD Punjab was proactively pursuing its goal of safe and secure Punjab and would not leave any stone unturned in its efforts to put terrorists and anti-state elements behind bars, the spokesman said.
