MIRPURKHAS:Deputy Commissioner (DC) Salamat Ali Memon on Wednesday underlined the need for proper awareness and knowledge to the general public about registration of their vote and after registration to check /verify the same after displaying voter lists by Election Commission of Pakistan across the country in order to achieve our desired results of the verification and registration of votes.
He expressed these views while addressing the participants of an awareness seminar/workshop organized by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Mirpurkhas at Jinnah Hall Baldia Complex in connection with National Voters Day being observed on 7 December every year.
The Seminar was attended by all stakeholders including Education officers,teachers who were in field did the enumeration work door to door activities, ECP Officials, Revenue, Civil Society, NGOs and Scouts children of Government Model School who performed their activities and led the rally/walk.
The DC further said that civil society and NGOs should actively take part in whole exercise to guide and lead whole community about their national duty and basic right as they were the important part of the society which could realize and understand his basic right, national cause and duty for maximum registration and verification of their votes at their proper home address and living place as per law and policy defined by ECP.
He stressed the need to disseminate the message of ECP for the importance of votes by involving civil society and NGOs. The ECP must increase their field officials not merely depends on the teaching staff as education of our children suffered.
On the Occasion, District Election Commissioner Roshan Ali Mastoi while describing salient features of the awareness campaign and National Voters Day said that ECP had facilitated all stakeholders for door to door registration and verify the voters through education department teachers staff with the help of NADRA.
Divisional Director Information Hizbullah Memon speaking on the occasion urged upon all stakeholders and media to proper disseminate the information and knowledge through news and pictures to general public for maximum registration and verification process of the ECP and play their due role to highlight the activities and events of such programs in a better way. He urged people to come forward to visit display centers of NADRA and ECP and should cooperate with ECP and education department field officials to register all family members who are 18 years.
In charge NADRA Daud khan Edu deptt Shahid Pathan, Fozia Memon, Representatives of Civil society Shezado Malik Muhammad Bakhsh Kapri and others were also spoke and said that its our collective responsibility to facilitate the general public and NADRA had established facilitation centre to get birth certificates of all voters and citizens on priority so that voter could be given registration and verification by ECP for forthcoming local govt and general elections. They further said that civil society and all stakeholders are actively guiding for the mass mobilization at every level and door to door working by ECP.
Later, all participants and DC Mirpurkhas and others lead the Awareness Rally/Walk from Baldia Complex to Press Club Mirpurkhas.
