DC submits proposal to LG sec for HMC restructuring

District

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC), which is being restructured to cover almost the entire district, will consist of 9 Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs) and 160 Union Committees (UCs).

A proposal in this regard has been submitted by Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro to the Sindh Secretary Local Government (LG) through a letter.

According to the letter, 7 out of the 9 TMCs would comprise 18 Union Committees (UCs) each while the remaining 2 will consist of 17 UCs each.

The population of each UC has been kept at around 13, 000 people while the population of the entire HMC was calculated at 2. 1 million.

The letter stated that the areas falling in the Cantonment Board of Hyderabad (CBH) were not part of the HMC.

The TMCs Nerunkot, Mian Sarfaraz and Preetabad would be mostly based in the revenue jurisdiction of City taluka.

Likewise, the TMCs Shah Latifabad and Sachal Sarmast TMCs would cover Latifabad taluka.

The TMCs Qasimabad and Hussainabad would spread to the entire Qasimabad taluka and some parts of Latifabad taluka.

The Hyderabad taluka would be represented through the TMCs Tando Jam and Tando Fazal.
