PESHAWAR: SG Sports Stars Football Academy clinched the trophy of the SEASON-4 Peshawar Football League-2021 played here at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium on Monday.
Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud was the chief guest on this occasion. Additional Secretary Sports Babar Khan, Director General Sports Asfandyar Khan Khattak, Regional Sports Officer Jamshed Baloch, Regional Sports Officer Dera Ismail Khan Anwar Kamal Barki, District Sports Officer Tehseen Ullah, Managing Director Bank of Khyber Muhammad Ali Gulfraz, Chief Executive Youth Glam Welfare Organization Gul Haider, large number of spectators were also present.
Before the start of the final match, the players of both the final teams DG Sports Stars Academy and Charsadda Baryalay were introduced to the guests.
Director General Sports KP Asfandyar Khan Khattak, Managing Director Bank of Khyber in their brief chat with the players lauded the organizing committee for holding the Peshawar Football League without any break from the last four years.
DG Sports said that it is good for the players to show their hidden talent and come up at the national level through such competitions.
Earlier, the final match started on slow note and most of the time the ball was confined to the mid field with some occasional moves from both sides.
DG Sports Stars Academy team training in the two of the Football Academies in Hayatabad Sports Academy and Qayyum Sports Complex Academy played well and made some good attacking moves but failed to score any goal.
On the other hand, Charsadda Baryalai of the Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Team also played well but did not score any goal and thus both the teams were tied in a goalless draw in the first half.
It was the second session in which both the finalists teams tried their hard to score any goal but this was Nadeem, the goal-keeper of Charsadda Baryalai team who thwarted some good goal-fetching moves of DG Sports Stars Academy team in the 62nd and 70th minute. Thus after the first session, none of the team could score any goal in the second session as well.
To decide the fate of the final match, both the teams were awarded five each penalty kicks on which DG Sports Stars Academy scored three goals out of five attempt but Charsadda Baryalai scored only two goals out of the five attempts and thus DG Sports Stars Academy won the final by 3-2 on penalty kicks.
FIFA Referee Muhammad Anwar, Ikram Ullah and Irfan supervised the match while Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah acted as match commissioner.
After penalty kicks were given DG Sports team won the trophy with three goals to two. Sohail Khan Kabir Khan and Riaz Khan were the scorers on penalty kicks for DG Sports Stars Academy team while Charsadda Baryalai Nadeem and Imtiaz were the scorers.
Earlier, in the semi-final, the team of DC Charsadda recorded 3-1 victory against Afghan TV, while in the second semi-final, the team of DG Sports claimed victory against Chitral Markhor team on penalty kicks 5-4 before being levelled 1-1 in the 90-minute time.
At the end of the final match, Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud gave away trophies, and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up team. The winning team was awarded Rs. 100, 000 as cash prize while the runners got Rs. 50, 000 as cash prize.
A total of 13 teams participated in the SEASON-4 Peshawar Football League-2021 organized by Youth Glam Welfare Organization Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
