PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TTI Lab for third party food quality testing.
The MoU was signed by Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan and Chief Executive Officer of TTI Lab Hamid Latif. Director Technical Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah and other concerned officials also attended the function.
Under the MoU, TTI Labs would provide testing services to the Food Safety Authority on the sides of food microbiology, food toxicology and chemistry while enabling the Food Authority to test a variety of food items, including dairy products, oils, beverages, bakery products, meat, and processed foods from TTI labs.
In addition to testing food samples, the TTI Labs would also provide training to staff at the Food Safety Authority’s lab.
Addressing the function, Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan said that the Food Safety Authority was testing the quality of food in the province on a scientific basis.
The DG said that a state-of-the-art lab is being set up in Peshawar to test the quality of food items, on which work will start soon. He said that the MoU with TTI Lab was aimed at promoting transparency by testing food samples from third party labs.
