SUKKUR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Javed Ahmed Wednesday said the foolproof security arrangements would be ensured during Muharram-ul-Haram and the police and other departments concerned have been directed to adopt all the possible measures for the protection of the processions and Majalis.
Presiding over a meeting at his office, the DC said the public representatives, Ulema and Zakrine from all schools of thought besides notables of the area should also be taken on-board while implementing security and other arrangements during the Muharram.
The officers of police and administration should implement arrangements regarding security; cleanliness and other facilities by maintaining close liaison with the organizers and the notables of the areas where Azadari processions or Majalis are held.
The DC said all the government departments including police, TMAs, Health, Civil Defence and others have been directed to ensure arrangements of maintaining the security, peace, cleanliness, availability of lights, drinking water, CCTV cameras and walk through gates on the routes of the Muharram processions and places of majalis.
The availability of ambulances, medical staff for extending medical aid in the hospitals and other logistic support should also be ensured. The control rooms at district and sub-divisional levels should be established with a view to ensure integrated liaison between the police, administration and other government departments for ensuring effective implementation of the security plan and arrangements during Muharram.
The Ulema, religious notables and citizens have also been urged to extend their all out cooperation for maintaining religious harmony and peace during Muharram-ul-Haram, he added.
