BAHAWALPUR:The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) on Monday organized a webinar on “The implications of recent IMF extended fund facility for economy, common people and education sector of Pakistan”.
The event was organized by the department of economics as per the vision of vice chancellor IUB Engr. Prof. Dr Athar Mahboob, who always emphasized the role of varsity in the development of knowledgeable market-oriented skills and creates awareness about current issues for students, faculty and community.
The speaker of the event was the macroeconomic expert Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan, Principal School of Social Sciences and Humanities, NUST Islamabad and former Secretary of Finance.
Dr Khan highlighted the historical perspectives as well the contemporary implications of IMF packages for Pakistan and the common man.
He presented the argument that as per empirical evidence, IMF bailout packages to avert the balance of payment crisis almost always bring indebtedness and misery to the economy in the name of macroeconomic stabilization.
The talk was concluded by the guest of honour Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr Robina Bhatti, who appreciated the efforts of the economics department for conducting
this timely webinar.
Incharge economics department Dr Abid Rashid Gill concluded the session by paying a vote of thanks to the honourable speaker and all the participants.
The session was attended by faculty, students, and researchers of economics from across the country.
