KARACHI: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Korangi Association of Trade and Industry and Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology to enhance the skills of youth as per industrial requirements.
The agreement was signed by Acting President KATI Maheen Salman and Vice Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering Prof. Dr.Valiuddin, said KATI release on Friday.
SSUET’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Valiuddin said that the industrialists of Korangi were aware of the potential enhancement of the Universities students and the full utilization of their potential in industry and commerce.
There are also misconceptions due to lack of partnership between the university and the industry which need to be addressed jointly.
He said that nowadays the world is developing rapidly and in such a scenario rapid change in curriculum is not possible.
He said that 95% of the teachers who provide training to the students do not have experience of working in the industry which is why they are unable to provide training to the students as per the requirements of the industry.
“ We want to work with KATI in this regard, ” he said.
Maheen Salman emphasized that students in universities should be given skills to meet the industrial needs. Local manufacturers were forced to import technology and raw materials while with a little guidance they could use local resources to produce the required technology and raw materials locally.
